Exciting trip to the Smithsonian tomorrow~.

Place your orders. image

A small group of four collectors, two pros and one renowned author will be perusing and fondling the treasures in the coin vault on Friday.

This was arranged by a dealer on behalf of the 20Th Century Gold Club and it should be awesome!

Even though it's from the wrong century, be sure to check out the 1854-S $20. I think you'll like it.

Just make sure to not put too many of your grubby fingerprints, or any other prints, on those SG $20's.

Sounds like a lot of fun Jay image

That would be an unforgettable experience. Enjoy!

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

They had a great coin display about 20 years ago last time I was there.

If you can, take pics of the vault and some of the stuff you get to see. image

    That sounds like a blast!

Be sure to take pictures, but not pictures where you are holding priceless national treasures in a careless or haphazard way for comedic effect.

Why don't you swing over to the BEP Mr GUru. Very nice tour and they have some nice items to sell other than paper money. Be safe my friend. I live 25 mins South of D.C. in Southern Md. D.C. is beautiful but very dangerous. Stay in groups and watch your wallets no kidding ok.

I think I'd rather see the original copy of the B.O.R. or the D.O.I.

The U.S. Mint has a retail sales outlet somewhere around 9th St., but when I was there in 2006, there was a lot of road construction and I couldn't find it.

I was born in the MD suburbs of D.C., and I used to party alot downtown in the 60's and early 70's. I've only been back a few times in the last 30 years. I don't know if it is still there, but if you find memorabilia interesting, you might want to check out Matt Kane's restaurant/pub near 14th & M. Their walls were covered with autographed photos of VIP's from politics, sports, media, embassies, etc. It is kind of like the "Who's Who of Guestbooks".

After your done with the rarities cabinet be sure to check out the early proof gold which is located in drawers by chronological order.
The various quarter eagle and half eagle proofs are truly memorable. The 1825 and 1829 half eagles are unforgettable.

I am sure you will have a great time.......... try not to drop the half unions on the vault floor. image

It will only be a memorable trip if you can get a video of flipping a national treasure in the air, for who picks up the lunch tab.

    Yes? No! Yes, what?

You know, they really should have better sense than to call it an "approval" poll.

Are they asking to borrow your collection for display? They might have to add another wing to display all those saints.
