Need Help with E-Bay Dirtbag Excessive Shipping!!!

Good day,
Won three individual auctions Sunday from the same Seller. Seven each individual cards, Four in each auction, two in one, and one in one. Auctions listed as $5 Shipping, a little excessive, but I bid, so I agreed. Won all three and send him three e-mails since then asking him to combine shipping. Finally the dirt bag sends me this tonight!!!
i do not combine shipping. some sellers do, and i am sorry if you
assumed i did. if you would have asked me before hand i probably would have
been happy to.
if you do not want the items tell me and gladly i will re-list
them.
did my listing(s) say or imply that i would combine shipping?
if the listing did, please tell me or show me where and i will be
more than happy to do as you say.
otherwise, tell me your intentions so that i may re-list the items and inform Ebay
of the communications.
thank you for your time, Erick Cassie
So I want to tell the Dipwad to go pound sand with his cards, $15.00 to ship three cards, give me a break. Part of it is he is pissed at the price some of his stuff sold for. And I want the cards.
Is this what I should do?
Thanks
Neil
Make sure you never bid on this guy's stuff:

With that said, I did not like the way he replied to you. A simple No or Yes would have sufficed.
I'd tell him to pound sand.
Steve
I prolly wouldn't pay.
You COULD leave 3 negatives, but I'm sure they'd eventually get removed if/when
he files a NPB case.
...or... don't pay and hope he just drops the whole deal. Just never NEVER bid on his stuff again.
...or... pay the rediculous S/H fees and still leave the 3 negs. He wouldn't be able to remove them, but
they'd cost you an insane $15 to leave.... yuck!
ALWAYS Looking for Chris Sabo cards!
Sterve
You guessed it, does he combine shipping.
I'll let you know what he says if/when he replies.
Steve
I am going to pay him Three different PayPals and tell him if he puts them in the same package he can expect Three Negs.
Neil
, is everybody nuts or just too stupid to read anymore
guy has a 5 though so i guess thats it
Good luck!
Jeff
15 one-stars.
His reply was insane.
.............................
I would:
NOT have paid.
Agreed to a mutual cancellation.
Refused to agree to the MC in the dispute console.
Replied to the MC, "Seller tried to overcharge me for shipping."
Then, I would have left 3 NEGs and 15 one-stars.
The ripper would NOT have gotten his FVFs back, and he would
have learned not to burn folks on shipping.
As you did bid and win, I believe you should pay as you did... three separate payments and I would request since he wishes to handle each transaction separately, that he should ship them separately as well. Finally, I would leave positive feedback, but give them a 1 star on shipping personally.
Snorto~
I agree with most here. Send 3 different PP payments and send a note with each payment saying that you expect 3 different packages and then still neg him. Maybe even file a SNAD too just for being an arse.

If he stated shipping costs in auction, did not say he combines, then he really is only charging you his advertised charge. Again I point out the ginzu knives theory. Order three seperate sets of knives from the tv ad, they will charge you S&H on all three and not combine them at all. They will of course ship them seperatley, but still charge you three different S&H charges.
This is where the seller is at the mercy of eBay BS. Is $5 to much to ship a few cards? Yes, of course it is, but you agreed to the terms by bidding on his auctions. Is $50 too much for a steak? Yes, but when you go to Ruth Chris to get one, you agree to pay it.
Not siding with him on his shipping costs, just thinking you should pay him and leave honest feedback on the quality of the purchase and leave appropriate DSR's and not unilaterally neg and 1 star him because you disagree with his costs. That's just playing right into the eBay nonsense on the whole thing
This case is a good example of why it is SO IMPORTANT to be as honest as possible through the feedback system and then allow the market to take care of itself. If this guy pisses enough people off, it will bite him soon enough.
before I buy anything, I know the price. When I dont, I accept the risk and I'm obligated to pay what it is as I have gotten myself in that situation. "Excuse me waitress, the check says $30 but actually I'm only going to give you $20 because I thought you would charge me less". yeah.
"Hey Bartender, this tab says $400 but I thought..."
I recently won 3 PS2 games from one guy in seperate auctions. One listing said combined shipping, one said buy 3 get one free and 3rd auction said buy 5 get 1 free. Won the 3 of them for $1 each and $4 each shipping. When invoiced, he knocked off .40 shipping...from the total price. I kinda complained and he took another nickel off !!! Well, It is combined. lol
Not only did I not get a huge shipping break or even semi realistic, honest etc , I also didn't get a free game. I was content though, when I didn't save what I thought I should ($5 total off). I quickly moved on as I never rec'd a response from the seller about what the combined rate was, but I still bid. Knowing the worse case scenerio of $5 ea. was still a bargain. $11.50ish to ship 3 PS2 games.....I cant really get mad at him as he never stated the combined rate. .45 discount ridiculous? Yes. Did I click the confirm bid without knowing the rate? Yes Could I of took my business elsewhere? Yes. Did I ?
You have to ask 1st or assume the risk. I never thought of asking my X wife if she was ever a man. I assumed she never was. My buddy kept pushing the issue that I ask her, so I finally did one night when I was drinking heavily. Come to find out she wasn't. But hey, I asked. - kidding.
Good luck in whatever happens. Unsure about your situation. Just wanted to throw out mine. Word.

Under the 30-day metric - now known as "Customer Satisfation Index" or
"Customer Satisfaction Rating" - the subject seller will be suspended for
30-days, if he receives a NEG or a NEUT.
While NEUTs no longer count against the net-FB %, they do count against
the CSI/CSR. Any number below 95% on this metric results in a bot-instituted
suspension of 30-days.
...........
Any seller who sends a message like the one sent to the OP, needs to be
on permanent vacation.
When everybody is forced - likely next year - to offer "FREE" shipping, we will
have SCUM like the instant seller to thank for it.

I pretty much agree with everything you say, and that link is a must read. I like Alan already. From what I have seen, they more cancel all your auctions then kick you off with the star thing....but I guess one could consider that the same. It does not however stop you from restarting...with a different funding source.

The CSR/CSI suspensions are NOT the same as those that
spring from the DSR metric.
DSR below 4.3 = 30 day suspension.
CSR/CSI below 95% in 30-days = 30-day suspension.
Small sellers are vulnerable to the CSR/CSI suspensions.
Large sellers are not. Buy.com can get HUNDREDS of NEGs
and NEUTs each month without any penalty. SMALL sellers
can be sent packing with JUST ONE mistake or ONE CRIMINAL
posing as a buyer.

Alan Lewis was in the mix when many of the new changes
were being plotted.
The synopsis of his verdict: We needed a way to get rid of bad sellers,
but our solution hurt only small sellers who really did nothing wrong.
Alan invented "EBAY Desktop," and was the alt team-leader on EBAY 3.0.
He now works for ning.com. (A good place for starting a sportscard group.)
Alan, for some reason, has been allowed to chime in on an EBAY board today.
He also has a blog. (I am shocked that EBAY has not poofed his forum threads.)

Thanks everybody for the input. I agree and believe I stated in my original post that I agreed to the $5 shipping. What I did not agree to and did not even take into consideration was to pay $15 to ship 7 cards. I never even thought that some jacka$$ would insist on three different shipping charges, and his Auctions DID NOT state he would not combine shipping. Being an E-Bay Seller with over 3000 transactions at 100% positive, and understanding what a Hot Button item shipping is to Buyer's, I myself would never even consider Not combining Shipping. I do it every day. My bad was thinking that good , Smart Business practices applied to my purchases. I buy stuff almost every day and about once a year I get one of these clowns, the special part was his reply, so Customer Friendly.
Part of reason for this original post was so you all could make sure you add him to your lists of Bad Sellers!!!!
The Clown will get what I said if he doesn't send Three (3) packages, Three (3) Negs. If he does send three packages he will get Nuetrals, and 1's in the DSR for shipping. And most certainly, He has been added to my list of Sellers that I will never, and I mean Ever, buy from again.
So his Customer service is serving him well!!!!
Neil
Cmon guys, the buyer pays and the seller ships.
By the way he did reply to my question and yes he said he would combine the shipping.
He told me to pay the first one then add 2.00.
The problem here is that the buyer should have inquired first.
With that said I also think the seller should do the right thing and ship these cards for 7.00.
5.00 for the first auction and a buck each for the other two.
Steve
MT has in spot on.
Steve
<< <i>I'll go against the main thought of the board and say just because a technicality doesn't mean he has the right to rip you off.
John >>
I agree 100% - it's a standard practice by just about all normal sellers to combine shipping anyway (or at least give a break to the buyer). I would leave all negatives for the seller just because of his poor customer service. Personally I think ebay would be a better place if people left the correct feedback.
///////////////////////////////
To reiterate:
In the new metric of CSR/CSI, a NEUT counts as a NEG in calculating
the required 95% CSI in 30-day blocks.
The subject seller will be bot-suspended for 30-days, if he gets a NEUT.
...........
NEUTs do NOT count as NEGs in total FB %. ONLY in the new 95% CSR/CSI.
......................
Current estimates are that between 80,000 and 100,000 small sellers
have been suspended in the past 90-days.
The EvilBAY pogrom is well underway.
//////////
If the subject seller had not written such a nasty reply to the OP, I
would, perhaps, feel a bit more charitable. He did, I don't.
..................
EBAY will soon be able to claim large increases in "active users."
MOST suspended sellers register one or more new names, after
being suspended.
An active user is a new registrant, OR a registrant that has bought
or sold one item within the preceeding 12-months.
The smartest play for suspended sellers is to get away from the
dying site and start building new outlets for future use. There
are many that can be made to work.
Mickey71
Not quite true. He made no statement either way.
Steve
You are correct. I just never assume the whole combined shipping thing. Like I said, I do not do business this way. If Neil wants the cards I think he should just send payment. If the items do not come seperately then possible neg. feedback should be left. I get upset at these types of situations.
Mickey71
For me crazy shipping costs is one of ebay's major problems.
//////////////////
And, as I have preached that it would for years, it is NOW hurting
ALL of us who NEVER engaged in it.
EBAY's primary excuse for the "shipping caps" is the conduct of
dirtbags like the subject seller. THOUSANDS of good and honest
sellers are being punished for the bad acts of the greedy gougers.
........
Card sellers should expect shipping caps to be instituted in 2009.
If the same model is used that is in play in CDs/DVDs, card sellers
will NOT be happy.
And after I have my items in hand, which I paid for last night with three different payments, I am going to inform this Seller that he has been outed on several Boards as a Dirtbag Douchbag Shipping gouger.
Those of you who differ with my opinion, thanks for your input and it's great that this is America and you have the right!! Those of you have agreed with me, thank you for that.!!! I appreciate that!!
I stand by my opinions and my actions !!!!
Shipping, as Storm has so clearly pointd out has become if not the biggest issue on Fee-bay, very close to the top!!!!
Neil
How true!!
I charge 3.00 for the first graded card up to a max of 5.00 for as many as you win.
I also have charged 6.95 for priority mail/insured/confirmed too.
I always discount and combine shipping costs, no need to even ask me.
I state it right in the auction.
The seller in this case is a greedy punk that I'll never buy from.
Steve
<< <i>Just because you pay 3 different times via paypal does not mean the seller has to ship it that way. >>
Actually, yeah, it does. By refusing to combine shipping costs, the seller is obligating himself to shipping 3 separate packages. Anything else is fraud.
Tabe
Steve
each day for coffee, papers and smokes.
Tabe I'll tell you why I disagree, the seller DID NOT instruct the buyer to pay 3 different times.
And just because he DID NOT combine his shipping AND handling charges does not allow the buyer
to tell any seller how to ship his/her items. The seller in this case sent ONE invoice with the ONE shipping/handling
charge. Had the seller sent the buyer 3 different invoices then MAYBE you would have a leg to stand on.
So, actually, the seller in your scenario is not engaging in fraud.
Steve
Edited: clarity
Edited one more time:
If the seller sends one invoice (which he most prolly did) he can ship the items all at once, in 2 packs, in 3 packs or in 7 if he so chooses.
Can a person pay 3 times even if the seller sends 1 invoice?
Steve
If Neil paid 3 separate invoices/payments, and only 1 package shows up, I believe he can file 2 "item not received" claims.
lol that would be funny, fighting fraud with fraud.
Steve
<< <i>lol that would be funny, fighting fraud with fraud....... >>
If you can't beat them........
<< <i>If Neil paid 3 separate invoices/payments, and only 1 package shows up, I believe he can file 2 "item not received" claims......... >>
//////////////////////////////////////
It is NOT "fraud" for the seller to ship in one package.
It would be pretty stupid of him to do so, though. He could get
hit with 2 INRs.
It is a VERY common scam and almost always works.
EACH transaction page needs a DC to defeat an INR complaint.
PP told me a few weeks ago that there is some kind of a
feature where the transaction-details pages can be combined,
but I cannot find it.
.........
Cautious sellers refund multiple payments and reinvoice for a
combined total.
<< <i>Funny how worked up people get over a few (10.00) dollars. Yet we prolly spend that much
each day for coffee, papers and smokes. >>
You are right on about this... I'm not sure why this pisses me off so much... I think it's because I always try to be honest and fair in my shipping cost and when other take advantage of shipping/handling only to make few bucks it just ticks me off...
I think I lose a few cents in some auctions - I charge $2.50 to ship 1 graded card and $3.00 for 2.
