JMHO CRUSTY BUT I LIKE IT

JMHO CRUSTY BUT I LIKE IT >>
might want to look a bit closer.... crust is not always what it seems to be...
I'd try to get it slabbed. If that didn't work, I'd make it my pocket piece.
<< <i>Hard to tell what the problem is...if there is one.

There are issues... look closer
<< <i>I'd dip it in an acetone bath just in case that green is PVC. Then I'd sit back and enjoy the crust.... >>
Bingo! But acetone can also get rid of some of the crust... so I am deciding what to do..
I'd have it professionally removed, if it can be done.
PVC may have an odor if there's enough of it
like old slip covers
Others may attempt to "save" a coin by putting it in the mad doctor's laboratory. So, after acetone, there's MS70, eZest...and then there's a Taco Bell Napkin, gunpowder, vinegar and honey. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes and "voila".
Disclaimer: Some sarcasm was used in the making of this post.

Go down to Home Depot, buy the quart can of acetone, and stick it and the coin in a glass (not plastic) jar for an hour. Remove the old acetone and repeat until the acetone remains clear.

"Environmental damage." Same story with a similar looking Netherlands Gulden.
I dipped the Gulden and it came out looking partly dipped and partly crusty, which
is sort of the worst of everything all thrown together. Pity, too, because there was
a little luster under the crust before.
Thanks,
Mark

I hope you don't understand the meaning of "dipped."
