Phantom mintmark on cents

I was reading that there were some master dies that had the D's and S's removed during production of working dies on cents from 1994. Does anyone have any Lincoln cents in their collections like this?

You mean one of these! The only problem is that under any high magnification (Digi Blue , Radio shack 60X, etc.) I see NOTHING. Not even a die scratch that would indicate something was removed. I have only seen these things on Ebay and bought this one years ago. So I know nothing about them. That is my story, and I am sticking to it!

C'mon RickO, tell us, or better yet, show us what to look for! In a certain angled light, I do see a flat spot where the mint mark would be as in luster flat, or is a spit mark???

Some of the 1998 wide AM cent's have the phantom MM.

Try as I have, I can not get a picture. But here again, mine is an "S" and it is not a wide AM specimen either.

Sorry guys I was reading the article about phantom D's and how they are found on most 1999 mint sets from Philly. And gets me thinking hey I'll take a look. And whats did I see....a very very faint raised D just like the article. Doubt I will be able to photograph it though but it looks just like the one in the article.

I have a phantom 5 on a 2005 coin that I bought off the bay last year, but I think I got ripped off. (only paid a buck for it) I will show a picture of the listing. when i get it in photo bucket. but if you turn it a certain direction the 5 disappears.

i just checked my dansco and yes it has a phantom D. most of the modern lincs in the set came from mint sets till they went to satin finish.
