Ebay pickle....

I sold a $50 Morgan on the Bay 10/4 and Priority Mailed it to the west coast on 10/6 (PayPal instant payment) Label printed with/by PayPal
On 10/10 it was returned to me "Undeliverable as addressed" after two attempts at delivery.
I used the default Ebay/PayPal address....
I emailed the guy 3 times to ask what's up..
Nothing....
I wait.....
How long???
Another recourse????image

Hmmm. The possibilities about what's happened & why are endless.

This is a strange one, alright. Just keep trying to make contact.

    Good Luck!

I had this happen once when sending something to a retirement community in Florida (not kidding). I figured the guy died after a couple of months attempting to contact him.

I would think they would still leave his mail (maybe the "dead letter/person office" got it)
  • When people move they can forget that they listed their addresses with ebay. It was 6 months before I remembered image Tells you how long I have been off the bay.

I'm sure the buyer will contact you eventually. The best recourse is to do nothing at this stage or try to get the buyers info from eBay & as mentioned before, try to call him.

I had a similar incident after Katrina hit the N.O. area. My shipment ended up in some sort of P.O. "holding pen" for about 2 month & eventually the buyer was able to retrieve it.

The buyer was lucky it wound up in the "holding pen" instead of being delivered!

This is a good pickle as you have both the money and the coin.

About every other month I get a message from a buyer that the post office delivered the coin to the wrong address. I inquire and they delivered it to the guy's old address which he had forgotten to update in paypal/ebay. In your case they returned it--probably because you requested a signature. You'll hear from him. --Jerry

Not true I just got a call the other day from my postal master telling me I had a boat load of mail in my po box. Well it wasn't my mail I opened a po box after my father passed. I did the right thing and did courtesy calls to all of his bill collectors.

My father if you guys remember died of cancer back in April. Well he had over $200.000 in Medical bills that medicare refuses and Va refuses to pay because he passed. So I closed my po box I had for him and told the Postmaster to trash it or return to sender. He told me he is getting it sent back over and over to the same Po box.

You might watch the buyers feedback, see if he still gives or gets feedback.

Here is a little different version. I bought an item on ebay a few years ago and he wanted to be paid by check/money order.
So, I sent out a check. A few days later I get it back unopened with a note that the person doesn't live at this address.
I email him about it and he confirms the address. I send it out again in a new envelope with the note from the other one inside.
He receives it with no problem. Nobody could explain the first round trip. I received my item with no problem.

I would not pickle the coin unless it was a cucumber commemorative, then pickling is almost mandatory.
