USPS return receipt (electronic)

derrybderryb Posts: 37,969 ✭✭✭✭✭
return receipt (electronic) is only $1 vs. the $2.20 signature confirmation when sending registered at the post office counter. Anyone have experience with this, and will ebay accept this as proof of delivery in a dispute?

Edited to add:
Just go my first request for return receipt (electronic) proof back from the post office. They sent me a PDF file that states all the delivery details and showed a scan of the buyer's signature and his hand printed address. Don't see why paypal wouldn't accept this as proof of delivery. Waiting to get their answer to my question on this.

I don't believe so...PayPal clearly states ... "Signature Confirmation" & it must be trackable online ....

just fired off the question to paypal. per the usps website: "Mailers that receive the return receipt via e-mail receive a proof of delivery letter arriving as a PDF attachment that includes an image of the recipient’s signature or an approved hand-stamp."

Seems to me that paypal requires and electronic means of seeing the signature so that, I assume, the seller can forward the proof to paypal for the the investigation. Seems that this USPS return receipt (electronic) will give them what they want. Will post back when I get the question answered by paypal.

I think the electronic form is the one that they want.

They(PP) want to be able to go online and see it.

I have always used the electronic form. The only thing is you have to buy insurance to be able to
buy the electronic signature. Or at least you do at the PO I use.

unless i am mistaken what electronic receipt you are talking about.

    Good for you.

PO has a "return receipt (electronic)" that you purchase at the counter, no forms required, just an additional $1 charge. See my original post for edited info on what the $1 bought me.

I have used on registered and thinking about using for other services. Be interested in PP response but I went ahead and used anyway. Anyone,if they have the numbers from slip can request the info sent to any e-mail address. So PP can clearly get and see the buyers name, signature, and address in the buyers own handwritting.
