A very short coin collecting article: BUY GAS at Only 25 Cents Per Gallon

BUY GAS at Only 25 Cents a Gallon

In 1964 you could buy gas for your car at $0.25 a gallon in most states in America.

1964 was the last year that the U.S. minted quarters on 90% silver planchets.

Today a 1964 Silver Quarter is worth about 2.65.

Today gas is selling for about 2.50 to 2.85 a gallon.

A 1964 silver quarter will still buy a gallon of gas for your car.

Have you learn anything here today?

The Fed is still printing $100 bills at a cost of a cent and a half. Yes, it costs $.015 to print each $100 bill.

Today the Federal government does not issue any silver coinage for circulation.

I have some 1964 Quarters... Do you?

---------------------------------------------------

The above article was written a few years ago, therefore there may be some time-sensitive inaccuracies. However, the premise remains: gold and silver historically keeps pace with--or outperforms--inflation. For example, a $20 gold piece in 1930 would buy a premium quality suit. Today that same $20 gold piece has the buying power to purchase an equally fine suit.

Now the BEP's production capabilities cannot meet the demand of the Federal government to inject liquitidity into our country's financial system, so billions of dollars are "created" electronically with one stroke on a computer keyboard. As an example, the government's recent $700,000,000,000 bailout package will not be physically printed on paper, but will rather exist in electronic format. Fasten your seatbelts....hyper-inflation is right around the corner. Historically there was been a 6 to 9 month lag from the large injection of capital into the marketplace, which is happening now, until you feel the pain of inflation in everyday life.

I have read that in about the year 1900, a person could buy a nice men's suit for a double eagle. Today, you can still buy a nice men's suit for the value of a double eagle.

For that 25 cent gas they also cleaned your windows, added water to radiators and batteries and checked the oil and tire pressure. They also gave free stuff like the Union 76 balls, the Chevron drinking glasses and Arco gave arks and then animals for the ark. The change was silver coins and still some wheaties.

    Now it's self serve. image

The only thing a quarter will get today is air for a tire!

    Right....and what's your point?
Positive BST transactions with: too many names to list! 36 at last count.
  • The point is, the price of silver has remained the same as inflation...

What .25 cents worth of silver would buy in 1964. Will still buy today....image
