1889 Gold Dollar: Opinions/comments please

My cousin gave me this coin today to see what I could find out about it. His grandfather worked at a bank and was able to get many coins over the years. This gold coin happened to be set aside in its own holder. I also have 2 bags of foreign coins that I plan on going thru for him as well (but those pics will be posted in the World/Ancient Forum). Opinions on grade and value would be appreciated. Thanks!

<< <i>Looks real and 61/62ish. >>
There is no doubt that it is real. I am just looking for possible grades and opinion of value. Then it will be up to my cousin if he wants to go ahead and sell it or keep it for himself. Maybe a future item on BST.

<< <i>What kind of value does this coin have at this time? PCGS has a 55/60 @ $250 and $365......is this about right? At the bottom of the price guide page, there is an 1889 60 (not the CAM or DCAM......not sure how gets that designation anyway) for $2,850. Can someone explain the difference to me? Thank you! >>
The $2,850 amount is most assuredly for the proof. Your coin apprears to be a business strike and is valued somewhere between $190-$300 depending on its real grade (which I cannot tell from your photos).

What makes this a type III as opposed to a type I or II?
