How much is gas where you live? Will the drop effect your buying?
People were lined up yesterday for $3.09 here in western KY. My wife was down in Tennessee last night and saw $2.93. I know my 401k is taking a hit right now, but I do like the gas prices going lower.

God day,
401K taking a hit.......Try 100K loss in the last couple of weeks, has reached the point where it is not just paper losses, have actually lost 30K real money.
Neil
Gas is still way overpriced the entire run-up in the past year was all speculation and manipulation.
would be nice to drop below $3 here
Chicago area has always seemed much higher than National average
Doug
As for gas...I've seen it as low as $3.09.
for sure. I am very lucky to be in the DC metro area.
Boy, I hate to be selling (for a living) right now.
I am sure sibmissions for all the grading companies are down. I wonder if any of the grading companies, at
least the big ones, will disappear.
<< <i>It makes me sick, my dad is less than 10 years from retirement, and his 401k has dropped by 40% in value...another $4,000 yesterday alone. He's wanting to pull it out and throw it into a CD for 9 months to ride it out...I've asked him not to, but I really don't know what he should do.

Don't get out of the market unless you have to. It's not a loss until you sell.

Agreed. 10 years is still a long time. I've said this before, but it seems like stocks are the only thing people hate to buy on sale. Right now, they're on sale. Now is the time to buy!
As far as gas...about $2.89

Yea, but all the current stuff on the store shelves still has the old gas prices (freight costs) factored in - Prices on consumer goods, food, etc., will be coming down...at least it should be coming down.

Funny how we are so excited gas has dropped below $3.00 when just a couple years ago $2.00 was a norm. Thanks Mr. Bush.

FYI on food prices. They won't be coming down for a long time. Do some research on the Sugar and Steel industries and you will see they are the cause of high prices more than gas. Government subsidies and having one guy own almost all one industry are not good for the consumer.
I work in the food industry and see this trend continuing..

Our steel can pricing has gone up 80% and sugar pricing if you can find a supplier has almost doubled. People are shying away from Chinese imports so pricing on citric acid, garlic and onions has really hit the roof as well. China having terrible food safety controls makes doing buisness with them very hard. China having 100% of the ascorbic acid market makes me very scared about kid safety.
Did you know the US Mint also made coins in 1997 commemorating Jackie?
I've slowed down buying and submitting cards.
indeed. This entire ethanol farce has seriously screwed over the general consumer.
