Not my auction, nor do I have any affiliation with the seller:

PCGS AU53 Hawaiian

As nice as that coin would look with the rest of my XF/AU CircCam™ early commems, I'm afraid I'll be sitting on the sidelines for that one. Should be very interesting to see where it ends up. In that grade it has to be rarer than a MS63, I would bet today that it sells for close to the value of one.

Yep.. that one has a long way to go...should put a watch on it in case a snipe is justified. Cheers, RickO

This just closed, reserve met at $1925. I don't think that was quite 63 money as I predicted, does anyone have current Greysheet values to see where that falls?

I know the person who won that auction (we discussed it before he bid) and I would have been in it heavy had not PPC sold me his duplicate VF25 earlier this year. That AU53 is a nice looking coin: there was one AU53 added to the pop reports between August 1 and right before the auction, so I bet it may have been 'freshly made.' The winner says it looks great in hand. In that case, for the condition rarity, he did fine.

He is doing a raw Dansco project and asked him if he was going to crack it out. Initially said yes, ... now 'thinking about it.' image

Edited to add: Somebody made a Fr2 Hawaiian during that same time frame. Talk about a condition rarity, pop 1 , none lower. Wonder would that one would hammer for???? image
Do your best to avoid circular arguments, as it will help you reason better, because better reasoning is often a result of avoiding circular arguments.

    Don,

Congratulate your friend for me and tell him to crack that sucker out.... but save the tag from the holder. I doubt he'd have any trouble getting it back in a holder when the time comes to sell.
