Just looked at the newest auction catalogue from Stack's

ElcontadorElcontador Posts: 7,720 ✭✭✭✭✭
1) Ignored 1/2 of the catalogue as I don't collect gold
2) Imo, there are a disturbing number of dark purple and otherwise questionably toned expensive coins. Some are slabbed, some are not.
3) As usual, there is a significant number of unslabbed, imo problem coins
4) If you can afford them, there are some beautiful Gobrecht $s
5) There are some nice SLQs

Think I'll pass.

Your thoughts?

well i go right to the half eagles and look for coins between 1859-1869
and it takes me about two minutes to realize there is nothing for me.

i am way past the stage of stretching for mediocre coins that have
a cleaned/dipped look which just happen to be easy dates among
the tougher dates. (yet tough overall for the series.)

I just looked at it as I watched the debate. I can say without doubt, that the Stack's catalog was more interesting, though by a slight margin.

There's a lot to like in the catalog, IMO.

Do you mean reckless abandonment, or regular abandonment?

I was working on a numismatic book during the debate. Hopefully it will be more memorable image

It might be more interesting if you collected gold, which I don't.
