I had no idea that one could punch the digit of the date in such a location? Someone must have sneezed or something.
Are they really this stupid, or are they destroying the dollar on purpose?

I cherrypicked an 1847/7 quarter when I was a YN, but it was a shift to the east and not nearly as dramatic as the half eagle you posted. Very cool.
