I got my first ever Proof today! (with pics!)

I was very happily surprised today when I got in my shipment. Every time a new coin comes out, my brother orders me a set. Normally he gets me the P&D set, but this time he got me the P, D, and S set! So, this is my very first ever proof! image

And no, it doesn't have lips like that, it's just an odd photo reaction!

It is really cool. I am sure it will not be my last proof, they are just too cool.

I'm sure nobody really cares about a State Quarter proof but it's special to me. image (I also got the new Alaska Quarter, P&D only and the Andrew Jackson dollar)

    Proofs can be addicting!
Nice model site, too! I used to build those things back in the 1960s-1970s. We used to use the springs from clickable writing pens to raise the suspension for '55 Chevy models. I even had a Hot Wheels style of that T'ranchula dragster. Those were the days. I was also collecting coins then.

Thank you image Some guys still use pen springs, and I've got a small stash of them but have not used them yet. image Coins take up a lot less space, that's for sure!

Proof ASE's are what got me started in coin collecting. DCAM proofs are works of art image

Nice and affordable, those state quarters! If you get them in the highest grades now you'll be
happy you did in 20-30 years. Yes, they made bagillions of them but the best grades are still
not common but are within most budgets. Way to go!

I have always preferred the proofs... just something about the deep mirrors and frosted devices that reach out and say 'art'... Cheers, RickO
  • I do not know what it is, but the 2008 Silver proofs look wonderful this year.

IMO, they are the best set thus far as far as definition and contrast.

.........i love proofs also. it hurts deeply when and if they develop spots, though.image
