1 and 5 are the closest. 4 also looks to have a nice strike. I can't wait to see what the tpg's said.

    Maybe 5.
Some refer to overgraded slabs as Coffins. I like to think of them as Happy Coins.

Closest is the fifth..... would have to see it in hand to verify.... Cheers, RickO
  • #1 is not bold, but probably an FBL
#2 looks too weak for some reason
#3 is really hard to tell from the pictures alone
#4 is probably a trick question, and is probably one of those S-mint coins that won't get the FBL unless it's clearly FBL
    #5 is probably an FBL
#6 has too many marks to qualify.
#7 is probably not an FBL.

    I agree with 1 & 5 - I give them a 50/50 chance whether or not they'll slab with the designation.

No on all of them from what I can see.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!
  • Pls.forgive my ignorance...I sincerely would like to learn. How does one tell if its an FBL or not? Which line does one look at?
  • lcoopielcoopie Posts: 8,874 ✭✭✭✭✭
there are 2 sets of lines at the bottom of the bell

NGC requires both sets to be complete
PCGS requires the lower set to be complete..

there is a little leeway just to the left of the crack

1 or 5 are the closest, but none really deserve it.
  • Looks like 1 and 5, but I don't try collecting for FBL's on these. I have a set that I don't look at regularly. Kinda like the full steps on the jefferson nickel.

#1 is the only one that has a chance in my opinion.
    Trade $'s
  • 5 would be my wag.

Not collecting, selling. I put them on the bay, and wondered what folks here thought of them. I listed #1 and #5 as FBL in my opinion. Some of you are now part of my opinion. LOL

    Thanks folks.

#1 probably. #5 maybe on a good day. #3 can't tell from the pic.
Then again, I have some with real crap bell lines, bought sight unseen before I knew better, in PCGS plastic.

    Regards, John
Need the following OBW rolls to complete my 46-64 Roosevelt roll set:
    1947-P & D; 1948-D; 1949-P & S; 1950-D & S; and 1952-S.
Any help locating any of these OBW rolls would be gratefully appreciated!

I'm thinking #1 would probably make it. The images on the rest say no.

It would not surprise me to see either 1 or 5 to come back with the FBL designation ... that being said I would not pay the premium for the designation on either
