Easy way to block the Google ads in IE7 w/o downloading anything

Ok, I don't mind hobby related ads too much, but when I see: "Meet Hot Girls (Free)" showing up in my JT Snow post, then I'm sure the "viagra" and "enlargement" ads are not far behind.

Here's how you kill these ads in IE7:

Go to Tools > "Internet Options" > click the "Security" tab, and click on "Restricted Sites". Click on "Sites" and then enter the following into the text box:
http://*.googlesyndication.com/

Click on "Add", "Close", then "OK."

No downloads, no patches, no nothing, just IE's built in tools to customize your internet experience.

TAKE BACK YOUR COMPUTER SCREEN.

I dont like these ads either. I did everything in the post except at the end, close and ok. The option didnt come up. I dont know much about this stuff maybe my computer is not the IE7 thing. I have Windows XP. Can someone help a Rookie out.

WOW, you guys are allowed to view this type stuff at work...before I was retired they had blocked just about any sports related and sports talk thread type sites you can imagine....the only thing I couldn't understand is they still let you go to ebay...go figure!!! al.

For those of you using Opera Browser, you can do the same by going:

TOOLS>PREFERENCES>ADVANCED TAB>CONTENT>BLOCKED CONTENT>ADD

and paste this into the added URL:

http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/*

Adding Digicat's http://*.googlesyndication.com/ to the Addblock Plus filter I downloaded yesterday worked perfectly for my firefox browser.

Im glad I read this before it got bammed.

If PSA will delete threads about memory lane because they're an advertiser, Im sure they wouldn't think twice about deleting a thread telling people how NOT to see their latest and greatest advertiser.

Shame on PSA for doing this, its bad enough to get flyers about upcoming auctions in every sub, then this

Aww, come on! PSA needs the money!

There aren't enough people who submit every single card for grading. You guys need to quit being such cheapskates and start trying to put together PSA 10 complete sets of 90 Score football, 88 Topps baseball, 91 Donruss baseball (ser 1&2).

Then, maybe PSA wont need the ad money.

Seems the other thread got deleted? Anyway I've found both of these addons work extremely well for all ads not just google adwords.

Interesting to note that ebid.net has a big ad.

It is being widely speculated that they are the "last best hope"
to facilitate the seller-exodus required to dent EBAY's lock on

The ads are not bothering me at all.

BUT, I have a VERY fast-connection AND since the ads have appeared
my refresh rate has slowed just enough for me to see a flash. I wonder
if folks on dial-up have noticed.

It's not that they are slowing down the site, it is just extra clutter. They've added about 8 ads per page. You wouldn't be very happy if they added 8 signs to you quiet little street. Just more pollution, be it noise or site. Most of them are not even relevant to the site or even users of this site. Kind of like throwing no parking signs all over the freeway, everybody sees them but no one cares.
