Gainesville Coins ??

Anybody on here work there?? I am trying to find out just what is going on with
you people. I posted earlier this week about how Gainesville Coins customer
service really seems to have changed for the worst but I wanted to wait until
someone answered me back about a coin on my want list but nothing and I
mean nothing. All I want is a picture of the thing before I spend $368 or $375
which ever y'all decide the price is going to be.

How bout Gainesville Coin are you listening and if so how about a reply either here or to
one of my many emails I have sent or call me back, I am tired of making long distance
phone calls and to answer another person on this board, YES some folks still pay a long distance fee.

a dealer that big is probably not going to send you a picture of a coin only worth $300 bucks. If it were 25k, maybe. Try to find the coin elsewhere.

That's not true at all, or at least it didn't used to be true. I emailed them many times for picture requests over coins worth less than $200. I got replies within 24 hours usually.

But, as of late, I've noticed their customer service declining as well. Ahh, how I remember the good ol' days...

Within the last 30 days I have received photographs within 24 hours of my telephone request. The coins were priced in the $300-$400 range. I have not noticed any slippage of customer service.

Maybe you could have someone else ask for you.

  • Maybe they had to trim some fat in the office.... They do have some pretty low prices...

It's been a month or so since I purchased my AGE from them.. No problems at all.

They have been class acts every time I have dealt with them. Its possible you caught them on a bad day or a bad week with this economic slump. I say give them another chance, most people here will say that they are excellent dealers.

I have had good luck with them, except on weeks during major coin shows. I have requested photos during those times on a couple of occasions and no one got back to me. Otherwise they have been very responsive.

Give them a call on their 800 number during weekday business hours and address your issues then. That works much easier and faster than posting a complaint here and hoping that somebody from the company may happen to run across it.

Just placed an order with them for 10 2009 SAEs. The price was very good. It was either that or wait for silver bullion to drop back below $12 per oz. and I don't think that's going to happen any time soon.

I'll update the thread when I have bullion coins in hand. In addition to their prices, I love their website. Very easy to order.

If (and I assume they do) they have a no questions asked return privilege, then why is the picture so important (when you really can't judge a coin from a scan properly anyway)? Just buy the coin and if you do not like it, return it - no?

    For me? No.

Many of us can tell instantly from a photo if the coin appeals to us and is even worth the return postage. Perhaps if one was buying modern widgets that all look the same, I could understand that perspective, but not for more classic issues where eye appeal and good-for-the-grade rules. In those cases (particularly appeal), a picture can often instantly disqualify a coin, or lead to a "I'd really like to see that in hand". Respectfully...Mike
