I AM Appalled at Ebay's FEES!!!

I know this might not be new to some of you guys but I just got my invoice for selling and listing about 400 items of Hockey Cards and I AM being charged 400 Dollars??? My total sales last night were 3500 us and EBAY is taking 400 dollars off of me??
What the hell......I thought the only charge was a listing charge?? I have done this before...I didn't know they take 8 percent of my sales after???
I am LIVID!!
Has Ebay always done this??? I do not recall in my other sales them ever charging these appalling rates??
If anyone has some insight, please help me!!

I am sickened..seriously...I feel like someone has kicked me in my guts....I NEVER recalled
a fee where they take nearly 10 percent of my final sale???
When did this start???
SOMEONE HAS to start a rival business to EBAY and in a hurry...
I am angry to say the least...and I have about at least 25-30 thousand dollars of stuff here I need
to sell......
and
Welcome to the ebay hatters home page
Ebay's fees are not the only screw they are putting to people, but its the only one they actually put up front in writing nowadays. Selling on ebay has gotten to the point where selling is a risk due to the buying scams going on and buying is a risk for the same reasons. The fees are just the lube for the real bending over. Wait until some of your buyers start pulling Paypal chargebacks and SNAD claims on you, then you will REALLY feel the burn
<< <i>When did this start??? >>
There have ALWAYS been Final Value Fees.

All I know, SURELY someone out there is working on starting to build a rival to ebay......this monopoly
cannot last.......I havn't sold for quite awhile so this is shocking to me..
I see on the Ebay Sellers forum that I am not alone....ton's of people up in arms over ebay's policies!!
I nominate you.
complain about is FVFs.
Those fees are paid with money I collect from the buyers.
<< <i>Mtcards, I don't know what you are talking about paypal charge backs and Snad? >>
If you're mad about ebay fees, the worst is yet to come.
were fine....but this one today has blown me out of the water....
Utter greed on the behalf of ebay...unbelievable...
ebid.net has both traffic AND buyers.
delcampe.com has MILLIONS of listings AND traffic.
Chargebacks- You sell a $100 card. Buyer pays with Paypal. You either forget to use Delivery Confirmation or the USPS doesnt scan it, the buyer claims he never got item (Even though he did), files a claim with Paypal..you LOSE your $100 and he keeps the item..nothing you can do.... YOU LOSE SIR..GOOD DAY!!
SNAD- You sell a PSA Graded card for $100, buyer pays with Paypal, he gets card....doesnt think it should have graded that high, files a claim with paypal ( Says Item NOT AS DESCRIBED), he is required to send card back to you...he sends you empty envelope with air in it, but uses Delivery Confirmation. Paypal refunds his money..he keeps item. YOU LOSE SIR....GOOD DAY!!!
These are just a few of the new surprises, not to mention that you will undoubtedly get a negative feedback on both transactions which you can do nothing about.

You left out the part about paypal freezing his money if he doesn't leave positive feedback immediately, to insure the buyers who make fradulent claims get refunded asap.
Oh my Lord......its a good thing I recognize most of my buyers as stand up people....
So what I am being told, their is no way around this vis a vis ebay? They basically take
10 percent of my sale now????? Unreal......
This is why I closed my ebay store and havent sold anything in a few months now. Too much risk, higher fees, not worth the effort anymore.

Because I HAD no bloody idea that Ebay took that much of my sales before....
I have a ton of stuff here to sell raw and graded and now I don't know what to do?????
Anyways, Metal Mike, I am more then happy with the price I got last night...in fact thrilled....
Until I got my invoice today from ebay and my jaw nearly hit the floor!!
not much of anything??? 400 dollars they got from me...a little guy....40 Dollars would be reasonable..
400 dollars ......that's when revolutions start...
I remember 6 months ago when I sold my 71/72 opc graded hockey set to a lady near Philly...we agreed
upon the price of 32 000 US....so she sent me my first installement of 8000 US through Paypal...Oh my lord...
I couldn't believe HOW much they took??? SO I emailed her back telling her to send me checks and she did and
everything was cool...the outright theivery of paypal and ebay is sickening....
I am pro free market and capitalist all the way.....but this is simply people abusing the system...
Either that or read the Ebay fees information before you list . . .
Dude, you sold stuff. You really think that's supposed to happen for pennies? Outright thievery? Didn't you sign up and agree when you listed your items? News flash, Ebay is a business. I think they try to make money.
What next, you put a piece of paper with words on it inside an envelope, then blow a gasket when some company wants an unreal 42 cents to deliver said envelope? Ya, kinda like that.
10 percent for these guys for basically doing
not much of anything???
Are you kidding? How else would you find the buyers for your cards if it weren't for ebay and the venue they provide? I'm hardly an ebay advocate, and I disagree with a number of the changes they've implemented of late, but this complaint is quite ridiculous. If you want to see unfair, wait till a buyer files a claim for an item you shipped and gets his money back and the item, too!

That statement is rather amusing considering that you sound like a socialist in your posts ranting against a corporation like Ebay for having the audacity to charge an appropriate fee for the service and venue they provide...

that ebay are NOW charging are appalling...
I used to sell stuff quite a while ago on there and I never encountered these kind of fees...
I don't mind people making a profit but taking 10 percent for what it costs ebay is outrageous!

Then it's simple, quit selling on ebay
Glad that's settled!

As far as the people who've had problems with ebay buyers ripping them off -- does this happen to you regularly? Like I said, I've sold maybe 500 things and I've had 2 NPB, but 2 of those contacted me almost immediately to tell me that they'd be unable to pay -- the other two just ignored any emails I sent.
I am a silver power seller and my monthly fees are usually only around 600 dollars a month something is not adding up here and that includes FVFs.
As far as buyers ripping sellers and vise versa you have to remember there are hundreds of thousands of transactions daily on Ebay we only ever hear about the bad ones. People do not talk about the good only the bad.
Open a real store and you will find out what fees are if you think Ebay fees are high.
not much of anything???
Lol they did allow your wares to be seen by millions.
Rent a table or a store front then come back and complain to me.
I have an answer for you don't sell on ebay.
Steve
<< <i>You'll get some of the fees refunded from the people who won't pay you. >>
Now that was a good one.
Then you also complain about PayPal taking a percentage of a previous transaction for providing a service while claiming to be a capitalist.
Sorry, but you sound more like a one-way street. You want to make the most money, but you begrudge anyone that provides the service for you to charge a reasonable fee for providing said service. That doesn't make you a capitalist, it makes you a self-centered, selfish pig!
BTW, don't forget about the $2.00 profit you're making per auction on that $3.00-$3.50 shipping (that's an ADDITIONAL 20% vig on most of your auctions that the BUYER is paying YOU). Based upon the 150+ auctions that you just ran, that covers almost all of the fees, but then again, I bet you're ticked off that the postal even charged to ship the cards. Yup, a self-centered, selfish pig!

I'm very sorry this happened to you. Seriously, ebay's fees are clearly stated on their site. Yes ebay has been doing lots of wrong changes and their fees always seem to go up, but try doing your own web site with your own domain name. You will need to do lots of work and advertising to get any traffic, and it won't compare to ebays traffic. That being said, ebay is tough to beat right now for the buck.
Maybe GoogleAuction is around the corner??
