Check this one out. According to Rulau's book on tokens 4th edition he describes it as:
a Remnant of "O" "D" repunched on top of an "O"

The description is for the headband where the letter DODD appear

Wesley Cox deduced that the error was made, and corrected by Hayden at Scovill Mfg. Co. in 1850-51 period. After this
token was struck. Cox deduces that the major letter style occurred at Scovill in 1852.

The rest of the story is shown below in a copy from Rulau's book.

I have found the copper error and now I found the brass token!
2 great findsimage

****Update******

I posted this on another site and one of the responses was:

"Rulau expanded on this piece in the December 2007 TAMS Journal.
The brass reeded edge piece has another variety with the reverse lettering doubled
(most prominent in DD & Co)."

Very interesting!!! I never thought to look at the reverse but maybe I have something hereimage
