Pawn shop buy or not

Stopped in at a newly opened pawn shop this weekend to see if they had any coins. Sure enough, they had wuite a few. ASE (non-W), SLH, Peace, and Morgans. Wanted $18 each for the Morgans regardless of grade. Had a 21 that was 55-60 and nice rim toning on the obverse. Worth the 18 or not?

Thanks,
Ray

A non-MS 1921 is worth a little over melt LINK, but not $8.

  • Thanks for the honest opinions. Maybe if I point out the current spot price he'll budge. I expect he picked them up for less than $10 from some kids.

Rarely are there bargains at pawn shops or antique shops... occasionally, but not often. Cheers, RickO
  • That's true. They owner said they were all common dates, no arguement there, but I doubt he knows about VAMS. Most of tehm dont.

I took this for $18 and asked for a discount on quantity.

For these pawn shop purchases, just remember, what you don't or won't buy, somebody else will and they know it!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!
  • That was another approach I was going to take. The guy has quite a few in the display case.
