The Card is the Only Printing Plate from the Company. Obviously It was used to make the 4 sport Arod Rookie Card. But what I really about it is the Bio & that it mentions the Awards he had just won! Along with being the 1st High schooler to be invited to the Senior USA Olympic Squad.

Here is the Back Scan You ask for....

I've seen a few of these floating around. There is a Mark Brunell collector that has his 4-sport printing plate. It's probably legit, but not sure of the value. Personally, I'm not into printing plates. To each his own.

Most cards are printed using a four color press so there are four plates. Each a little is different. It is however quite possible, and in large print runs a sure thing, that more then one printing plate was used. Sellers typically call all printing plates one's of one's and most I imagine are.

I would question the comment, "I got it in a Trade from a friend who received it from an employee of the Company. I also know the employee, we've traded together before." For one thing, the company is out of business, and second thing, almost all their printing plates made there way to the market from the bankruptcy sale. You can search ebay at any given moment and get 100s of them for change.

The A-Rod should go for about what the seller wants I imagine. Stars typically go for around $10. I could easily see that worth the asking price since many would consider it a rare A-Rod RC.

Edit to add: Printing plates work the same way newspaper plates do. The ink gos onto the plate, from plate to a roller, from roller to the paper.

Edit 2 to add: Back printing plates of Steve Young's 1992 Collector's Edge card for different colors.

    image

I showed this is my Young thread, but here are a couple real printing proofs. (Sample cards made during production to test ink, set up, et al.) This shows two single color, one card after the four colors were applied, and before a fifth color (gold) was applied. After the fifth color, it appears Pro Set gave the cards a little gloss which is missing from the final card in the group. Anyone else remember when a fifth ink was a big thing?

Printing is a process and your right(meteoriteguy) typically seller's call these 1/1's. I am use to getting questioned(the 3rd degree of it image when I come on the board to sell. Most of the time its from the guys who just want to haze and not buy what I have to offer. Anyway, Each plate is different from the other, no matter what the process calls for. The Cyan Plate is the 1st to be used in the Process, as is this Arod example.
Just looking to sell an item, Not looking for a war of wit image I usually give the board a shot at something I consider cool, before I send it on to ebay.
Just to make what was previous said a little more clear ~ The Gentleman, where the card is originally from, was an employee of the company!
I also understand that there are a lot of people out there trying to make a buck by being dishonest and pass along many different items, questioning if the item is legit is of the norm! I encourage it........
