Very Positive Experience

Recently I found out that a member of the Bust Half Nut Club lives in my modest town. I had one of the local coin dealers let him know that I was interested in meeting him. This came to pass last Wednesday when he agreed to attribute my date set of Bust Halves. I had kept all the information when I bought them on my computer but lost the hard drive some time ago and didn't have any of the information needed to attribute them myself.
He was exceedingly kind and knowledgeable. He spent three hours looking at the coins attributing them to Overton number and his opinion on grades. What was interesting and beyond my own keen was that he saw that some coins were a certain rarity by Overton number but a different rarity based on their die state -something about which I was clueless. He pointed out clash marks on a number of coins - something I never looked for, found filled "A"s in STATES on a couple of coins and a rarer variety of the 1809 that had verticle lines on the edge. I only have one coin which I wish I hadn't bought because it was cleaned but it turned out to be my only R4 by Overton number.
This gentleman has been collecting Bust Halves since 1962, has 438 of the 450 varieties yet seem to be as interested in looking at my set as I was in having him do it. It was wonderful. I'm hoping that I get to see his collection of Busties along with other earlier date stuff that he collects - coins out of my league.
I have never shared my collection with anyone before who actually showed a numismatic interest. I didn't realize how much fun and rewarding it can be.

BTW- It's "Overton", not "Oberton"
