Silver Proof sets 1999-2008.

I am seeing the complete run of 1999-2008 silver Proof sets selling for about $650.
Seems like a good deal to me, are any board members interested in these sets?
Has any one seen a capital plastic, 50 coin holder, for the State quarters? I think all the silver Proofs together on one “page” would look awesome!

Back in '99, I bought the Dansco State quarter album with holes for the uncs and both clad and Silver Proofs. Now that the set is complete (except for the 2007 unc coins...have to fix that image) it really makes for an impressive looking set.

Do you have to chose between satin coins and business strikes for 05, 06, 07 and 08?
  • The album does not have a place for business strike and SMS coins. Since all the rest of mine came from mint sets I continued to do this for all the quarters.

Where are you seeing that price? That's well below Bid and is basically a very low wholesale level.

Good question. I bought mint sets for 05 and 06 and they really don't look out of place.

I'm doing the Dansco set with proofs also. I am really enjoying them much more than when I had most of them just sitting in the mint packaging. I'm choosing Satin just because it's easier to get the mint set then try to find a decent example from circulation.

Sounds like a good price to me if these are sight-seen (i.e. not with the flotsam and jetsam that's left after cherrying the nicest sets).

Also make sure these really are silver coins and not clad proofs where someone may have opened the cases and performed a switcheroo, especially on the 1999 and 2001 sets.

If you search the Proof set section of e-bay with "1999-2008 silver" you will see what I am talking about.

I do like the idea of all the silver proofs in a nice Capital Plastics display, though that will make them a tough sell come the time when you might want to sell, as the market seems to greatly prefer original mint packaging for such sets.

yes, there is only room for one each p&d. i`m doing a set with proofs and a set without. i continued with buisness strike coins as i wanted to keep the set consistent. pre-2005 all came from mint sets. 2005 and up came from rolls. no room for territories thoughimage

i also am doing a 32-98 set that has a bunch of extra holes on the last page so maybe i`ll throw the territories in there.

I still wish Dansco would make a separate page for the Wisconsin hi/lo leafs. I'd crack my NGC set and put them in there in a heartbeat. Now THAT would be a complete set.

I would like to find one as well!

JCarney, if you really, really, really want that page, you might contact Dansco and see what custom solutions are possible, or, get a blank quarters page and see what you can dream up as far as arranging the coins. If you went that route, I could see placing "normal" WI quarters all around the hi/lo leaf examples, that you'd place (& somehow highlight) in the center of the page.

It is an awesome design that I have only recently become aware of and added to my want list.

It looks like there is not much interest in the silver state quarters. I guess they would be considered modern crap by most here.

  • I have the complete run of 1999-2008 Silver Proof sets Including the Red Mint storage box.
(The box will not hold the 2008 box as it is too thick.)

These are not picked thru as mentioned in other posts. They are just as I received them from the mint.

Was thinking of putting the complete set up on the B/S/T for $700 shipped......

Also have many extra proof sets, etc will list another time.
Need to sell off items due to wife's Cancer treatment expenses.

    Any interest please PM me?????

    Thanks, Don
