<< <i>p.s. did we ever determine prizes?? >>

I assumed that anyone outside the top 3 was going to pony up $20 in cards for the top 3 finishers. Not sure what the distribution was going to be though.

Is MrBecker still around? I believe he's the commish.
  • Just gonna update this one after the first round of the playoffs. Both the 5th seed (colebear) and 6th (leiascards) seeds knocked the 3rd(bobafett) and 4th(kidfundz) seeds out to move to the second round. The second round is still up for grabs..

Congrats on upsetting the higher seed! I admit I feel for bobafett a bit since he led for most of the year, but that is the nature of the playoffs. You had a great beginning for the week (Lester & Snell had excellent starts) - hopefully I can catch up by the weekend!
  • Well remember for the first month or 2 of the season I was blowing everyone out by 8 or 9 points a week. Then I went into the crapper and struggled to make the playoffs.

That's right. That was you that was dominating early on. Baseball is tough since it's such a long season.
  • is mr becker still alive? no response on this thread or on the Yahoo site. half the folks stopped making changes, updating lineups etc.

    very frustrating.

So when the score is tied, what is the tie-breaker? Two match-ups ended at 8-8.
  • i ended up tied 8-8 and won. lol 5th place never tasted so sweet!

    p.s.

IS MRBECKER DEAD?? just curious. no replies to this thread or the league message board.

NOTE: MRBecker has not signed on for one whole month.

p.s. Next year I will be happy to start/run the league, if your commissioner you really need to stay on top of things and have details ironed out; update stuff etc.

It looks like the tie breaker went to whoever was the higher seed. All of the matchups this week were REALLY close!

Once the season wraps up, if I owe someone some cards or something, just let me know. I made a mad rush for the playoffs that went to the final week but just missed out.

The tie breaker in yahoo playoffs is lower ERA. The reason why I
know this is because in my league I tied the higher seed, but advanced
to the finals because of my pitching staff. imageimage

Actually, this final round runs 2 weeks so we still have 1 more week to go. Looks like it's gonna be a real battle to the end!

  • Great season everyone, especially you Fuj looks like you will be close to the top in two leagues!! Hope you get your prizes image

With only a few days left, the final standings are really in doubt! I think gosteelers is going to get me in this one though as it looks like I'm gonna come up just a bit short unless my players somehow go crazy this weekend.

    Congrats Fuj!
Incredible year you had - looks like 3 first place finishes - "Holy Cow!"

The reward was $20 in cards, right? Give us some hints:
    - favorite team
    - favorite player
    - favorite year
    - unopened stuff

    What do you want?

See ya next year. Everybody guns for #1.

Thanks! I was pretty surprised that I was able to pull it out on the last day. Just lucky I guess!

To be fair, how should we divide out the prizes? I've emailed MrBecker to see if he is going to organize this but he seems to have disappeared. If we assume that the top 3 (myself, gosteelers and colebear) were to split the pot amongst the 9 teams that finished in places 4-12 what would be the fairest distribution? 5 - 3 - 1 work for everyone?

I'm good with that. Just need the details.

    Hey guys,
I came in second this year so whatever you guys decide is fine with me. I think Colebear won the league I was in last year and I never had the chance to pay up so he can take my share if necessary.

    Let me know...

    Let's bump this thread up.

I'll assume that we'll distribute the prizes as follows:

fuj: 5 prizes but with Mr Becker AWOL, I will take the hit here and assume I'll end up with 4.
gosteelers: 2 prizes (giving one up to colebear for last year)
    colebear: 2 prizes

Here are the teams that would owe a prize to one of the winners:

    leiascards
    ObamaYoMama!
    kidzfund
    mrbecker712
    thenavarro
    BunchOBull
    clydecoolidge
    DrJ
    bhelser

Can everyone either reply with who they will send something to and update the thread. Otherwise, you can send me a PM and I'll update the thread too. Thanks guys!

If the 3 winners would post their hobby interests in this thread it would help a lot!

I'm currently working on the HOF and Future HOF registries in baseball, FB and basketball. I'm not that far along in any of them so there are still a lot of cards I need.

Probably no one else is paying up because it was never formally determined that there would be prizes. On page 1 of the thread Leiascards asks "Are we gonna set up some prize structure.", Dr, J says: "We should establish some sort of prize structure for the winner BEFORE the season starts."
On page 2 of the thread, I mention prizes, Dr. J mentions prizes, and kidzfund mentions prizes. Mr. Becker712, on MARCH 8, the commish states: "What are we thinking regarding prizes? $20 per person worth in winner's fave player/team/set???"

The next mention of prizes is not until August 18, well into the season, by Bobafett72 that says: "p.s. did we ever determine prizes??" On August 18, Fuj states : "I assumed that anyone outside the top 3 was going to pony up $20 in cards for the top 3 finishers. Not sure what the distribution was going to be though.
Is MrBecker still around? I believe he's the commish."

Then, on September 15, I state: "Once the season wraps up, if I owe someone some cards or something, just let me know. I made a mad rush for the playoffs that went to the final week but just missed out.", then people started talking about the prizes once the season was over.

I PAID UP quickly to Fuj, because he deserved it for his prowess, and I thought it was the proper thing to do since some felt that the league was playing for prizes and I didn't want anyone to be disappinted, but the reality is that there was a bunch of teams that never agreed to play for $$$ or cards, and it was never finalized as you can see in the thread.

Just bringing this up for conversation as I don't want some of the board members to get a bad name for welching, but they probably didn't agree to play for $$$ or cards in the first place.

While I didn't put my word in either way as to go for prizes or not, I figured I'd go with whatever the board wanted. I'd much rather give prizes than money...giving money is just not my style, I'd prefer to find an awesome item to put into someones collection. That being said, I'm watching several eBay items as we speak and will hopefully have a good prize to offer up very shortly. If I can't find anything in the price range I'm shooting for and the level of coolness I desire, I'll just give $20...but my prize would be a lot cooler than the $20.

Ok, after much deliberation and little to show for it, I'm forced to simply paypal someone $20 as I couldn't come to terms on a worthwhile addition to anyone's collection with various sellers. Of the winners, please work it out amongst yourselves and tell me to whom my prize should go. Thanks!

I'll leave it up to Fuj since he won the title...

I wouldn't mind sending 3 smaller prizes, one to each winner, since it's almost certain that not everyone is going to get their scheduled prizes.

Since Mike (thenavarro) already paid out one prize to me, how about you just split it between gosteelers and colebear?
  • BunchOBullBunchOBull Posts: 6,188 ✭✭✭
I can do that, no problemo.
