    Yet another "self proclaimed" slabber.

    I guess as long as the seller keeps saying "double die" along with one of a kind and not the true meaning of "doubled die" with many in exsistance, they are not attempting to deceive the potential customers.image

    the coin is a double die like he proclaims, he never says "doubled die" the seller was 100% correct, the bidder was an idiot.

    The fellow who was also selling the 69-S Lincolns w/strike doubling was getting a pretty penny too. Expensive mistakes because of lack of homework IMO.

    It's clearly shelf doubling but when Fred gets to work or TD, maybe they can shed some light. Errormaven or someone else ? What are we missing here that so many bidders hit on this one ?

    There is nothing that Fred, Mike, or EM could add to this post. It is a run-of-the-mill strike doubled cent. Unless they think that the die chip in the '9' makes it more special.

    Hey,
    All I have to say is the guy is pimping out his wife (?) and it's working......did you note the description where SHE says, I know about coins and my husband knows about the internet.....BRAVO blondy (I'm speaking to her husband of course). He's definately got a nice out with his wife (?) in charge. Sounds to me that this might just be his EX-wife or some picture of a gal that broke his heart. This person, in my opinion, knows the scandal he's creating.

    Now how in the h311 could there be just one of this rarity?

    Oh,I know. At the mint they noticed this coin come out like it did and then immediately stopped production so no more would be produced.Then they pulled the offending die off of production while they looked for this rare coin so they could destroy it but, alas, they could not find it.It had vanished.

    Someone should email this buyer and tell them what they really have here.I can't bring myself to do it.It's just too painful for me to realize that SOMEONE ELSE ALWAYS HAS ALL THE LUCK.WHEN IS MY BOAT COMING IN?...d@^^n!

    A few things to clear up:

    1. Two coins of the same date and mint that are machine doubled in the same manner does NOT make them from the same die. They are simply two different coins struck by loose dies.

    2. 'double die' is not a correct numismatic term. The seller was implying that the coin was hub doubled which is not true. They buyer was grossly undereducated, as was probably the seller.
