no, i think i posted pics of this coin raw in that thread...
this was placed in my bathroom(location chosen because of most humidity) on the top shelf leaning against the wall so both sides would tone. no TP or taco bell napkins, just plain air.
"Bathroom Toned"!
Looks good BTW! I certainly wouldn't get rid of it!
Are these scans or photo's?

Good pic too.
I guess we won't be seeing this in your ebay listings.

<< <i>Hmm. . .looks NT to me, too. Very tough to get these late date ASE toned, because, obviously, toning takes time and that coin is only 4 years old. Now, we have to figure out how this one did this in 6 years:

Leave these out in the open air and they can tone, not rainbow but still a bit dramatically, in 6 months. I've seen it and others have as well.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Nice photo's!

nice natural aroma?
I'm glad you posted cause it reminded me that I STILL haven't sent my
Quarterly Freebie in. I need to do so along with a somewhat sizeable submission.
I think I'll use the Quarterly on this one. It's been in it's envelope long enough
and is probably even more vivid now than when this was taken some time back!

Boom, very nice, post pics of yours as it looks now if/when you can.
After I posted I couldn't help but wonder if I may
have inadvertantly sabotaged your thread!
If I have, please accept my apologies.
I can always take it down.
If you really want to see what it looks like now
I'll have to find it and photograph it etc -
soooo, it would be a while till I can do so!
Glad to see yours made it's way into a PCGS slab!
I have a few but I don't think I have that year.

In most cases toning is a very slow process, but I've seen several coins tone up very quickly. Once, I bought a blast white Mercury dime that was taken out of an original roll and I left it on my fireplace mantle for 3 days. When I went to put the coin up, I was amazed to find it with a very colorful obverse. I wish I could have seen the toning process in action with a time lapse video, but I wasn't expecting anything to happen. Also, in 2006 I opened a roll of the newly designed nickels and found one with a fairly colorful obverse. It was not even a year old yet. I stuck it in an album and it has continued to tone. I don't have a full understanding of the science involved with the process of toning, but I do know that on occasion it can happen very quickly. I think it would be interesting to see what your ASE looks like a couple of years from now. Usually, once a coin starts toning, it continues to tone.

no problem posting your coin... isn`t that what this place is about?
CHAMELEON... yes some seem to tone fast and i`d say most don`t. i have danscos with linc/jeff/merc/roosie/washingtons 32-2008 and most show no signs of toning. the few that are toning are nice looking. why one coin tones and the ones around it stay untoned i have no idea. one thing i notice is most of the ones toning are from the philly mint.
THere is not rhyme or reason to it either. The oldest coin ('86) shows not toning while the '02 and '06 are toning yellowish brown around the rims.
Mind you I keep them in a sealed bin with lots of dessicants to keep the humidity ultra low , why any toning occurs is beyond me.
but at=accelerated toning, nice I like....
