do you let coins reach room temperature before opening the box?

can this effect a coins appearence in years to come?

  • No. Unless your coins are so frigid (they'd have to be raw as well for this to matter) that condensation develops on their surface. That could possibly change their appearance.

    No, but I wonder if flying at 30,000 feet in a non presurized cargo hold at freezing tempurature has something to do with milk spotting ? image

    If is a proof coin that has been left outside in the cold during winter, then yes. (Humidity can pass through the Mint plastic holders.)

    Never thought about it; usually I am trying to get myself to room temperature before opening the coin box.

    Never considered it... however, none of my ASEs have milk spots... Cheers, RickO
  • i never gave it any thought. coins arrive during the day and then sit for a few hours till i get home from work. good point to bring up though. good idea to let `em sit for a couple hours during very cold weather.

    I think that you may be on to something here.
    I have never given this a thought.
    It can get pretty darn cold up here in upstate NY in Feb.
