Grade Revealed on Page 2 - How about a Draped Bust Half Guess the Grade?
This little lady was at the local show and begged to be taken home, so now she's under my camera!
What does the forum think she grades? Also, the areas on the upper part of the reverse are glares off the slab, i've got to learn how to clean slabs better.
(If she looks a little green, she's not. Only nice tones of grey. On my laptop the color looks perfect, on my desktop it looks green...hmmm.)

Want to buy an auction catalog for the William Hesslein Sale (December 2, 1926). Thanks to all those who have helped us obtain the others!!!

I want her and I want her now.......
She just tips the 50 scale by the way.
I'm 50....she is 50....Perfect match
My guess on this beautiful coin is EF-45. I was really holding onto AU-50, but the lack of much luster, being glazed over in presumed natural grey surfaces,
has dropped my guess to EF-45. Detail wise is excellent except for a couple areas of weak striking.
This coin would definitely be worthy of a sticker in my book.

I'm the eyes, my dad's the banker.
And don't confuse lack of luster with my inability to capture it

As always, I was just giving you a hard time
I also feel that I've seen this coin before. I want to say I saw it in CRO's inventory a few months back.
I'm sure I'm wrong, but it would be cool if I'm right!
Very nice photo.
So when to you head off to school?

<< <i>Very nice coin speety,I'll guess 45 if by Pcgs and 50 if NGC.
What a nice coin!

Go to Early United States Coins - to order the New "Early United States Half Dollar Vol. 1 / 1794-1807" book or the 1st new Bust Quarter book!
And as for those slabs Mequiars PlastX for about $8.00 it sure does help.
Details wise, it looks like a no-brainer high-end AU. However the lack of luster makes me wonder if it's not graded a bit lower.
I'll guess AU 50.
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
<< <i>I agree with the 45PCGS, 50 Across the street.

I have a bottle right next to me and i can never seem to get it to do any good. I have a few sample slabs that i'm just going to scratch the crap out of and then work on my scratch removing skills.
I head off to college on the 19th, i'll still be posting but not many new pics until the breaks...or i'll just stockpile some before then and slowly release em.
IIRC, one person has the grade on the slab, which isn't what I personally believe it to be. I'll post the holder, the grade, and my personal grading comments tomorrow. And may I add that i sure hope i don't get Ben grading my coins when they get sent in! I have a few more very tough coins that I'm photoing tonight so i'll do another guess the grade later in the week.
I say a 55 at PCGS and a 58 at NGC.
Also looking for VF-EF Seated halves.
Sell me your old auction catalogs...
Looks in that 50 to 53 range here.
Thanks for sharing!

Those hoots say quite a bit too
You got a keeper. The grade is AU 50.
My thoughts, the coin wear-wise is an AU-53 but with a little less luster than i'd like in this grade. However, whatever this coin lacks in luster it more than makes up for in originality and lack of distracting marks. I think NGC actually got this one right... i know, i need more Koolaid!
BUT, I still think the lack of luster would 50/45 it at PCGS.
Still a wonderful coin and those DBH's can become quite addictive.
<< <i>Speety, wear wise, I think NGC nailed it.

Stone, i'd agree with you that PCGS would probably 50 it (there's enough luster for the 50 grade at the very least imho) as they seem to like the coins a little brighter/more lusterious. That can only mean one thing, i must dip this thing...
Will you give me a shot at her when I hit 53?
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
<< <i>I could live with a 53 slab - while I still see it as a 50.

No but i'll buy you a drink and show her to you in hand...it'll be the first time i'm able to.
I was gonna guess AU50, seriously, and then I scrolled down to see the AU53 slab.
Either way, she's a beauty, congrats

Deal.
I will enjoy the drink, but dinner will be on me my friend.
That coin really is a super pick-up that would sit pretty in the best of collections.

But I pick the location. Mmmmm Mortons!
I admit to being a bit of an optimist. (see my comment re AU55 above) But, given Speety's earlier remark re luster, and looking at the apparent paucity of rub, I am hoping that JRocco validates my optimism.

<< <i>I will be interested in JRocco's opinion after seeing the coin in hand. The images simply do not capture the luster. That may be in part to an absence or muting of luster as well as limitations of the image. I love the strike, allowing for some aspects of strike weakness.

It may be a while... at least until i can buy him a drink.
