Another eBay question

If an auction ends and the item was not sold, is it OK to contact the seller and make an offer? I checked eBay help but this topic didn't seem to be listed. Thanks.

Yes you can contact the seller to see if he will take a certain price. But eBay requires the seller
to relist the item, and not to deal outside of eBay. That way they get there fees.

I never have a problem with it. Paypal will help provide some protetction.

A lot of people do that. Ebay doesn't appreciate it if they don't get their fees though.

Yes and no. If you contact the seller through Ebay then yes Ebay would require you to relist it. However if the seller puts their own Email in the listing or you know it already and you contact them without going through Ebays email system the item does not have to be relisted.

However if Paypal is being used I would recommend using Ebay as the protections are not the same for transactions outside of Ebay as they are on Ebay.

Yeah, if it didn't sell then you can contact the seller to try and work something out. You don't have to do it off ebay, you can just ask for a buy it now price. Of course most sellers would probably prefer off ebay these days to save them money on fees and to save them from negative feedbacks. Of course off ebay is never save for the buyer.

Don't expect to get it for cheap. The reason I say that is because I have watched an item say for $5 and there were now bids, then I contacted the seller asking for a buy it now since there were no bids and I was exepting a $5 BIN lol, but now suck luck, the seller said $20

Its best to just put in that bid if possible without forgetting the auction.

I have had people do that to me as well, I have put up cards that have sold in the past for $40-$50 and put a minimum bid of say $25 to get it started and then get zero bids. I would put it in my store at $49.95 and then get lowball offers for $10-$15 with the buyer saying something about me not getting any bids on the auction. People dont realize that while, I may try selling a card, as a collector too, there is a point in which, I would rather KEEP the card than sell it for a nothing offer.
