Oh Mr. Weinberg...2 Misaligned Die Quarters!

I bought these 2 misaligned die quarters at a local shop today, and I was wondering what they might be worth. They obviously come from the same die pair, and there was even a third, but it had a bit of gunk on it so I didn't buy it.


So, any idea on a value?

    They're worth surprising little. Maybe $10 each. Maybe less. I think their coolness value is much higher than their dollar value.

    Board member errormaven did some research into severely misaligned dies a few years ago. Or maybe someone else, but I think that's who it was.

    Here's a couple of others. I paid well under $5 each for these...

    I have a misaligned die error from the same die pair, and I've seen others. Alone, each would be worth perhaps $15.

    It's a nice demonstration of a stable misalignment. Many other misalignments are unstable through a press run. You can even find double-struck coins (each strike from the same die pair) in which the first strike is normal and the second misaligned. You can find multiple, misaligned die clashes in which the hammer die occupies a progressively more offset position.

    I'd be in the same area as the other valuations - the Quarters are
    better than average examples, in my opinion.

    I'd say retail is $15-$20, or thereabouts........maybe a bit more if you
    find the right buyer/quarter error collector.....
