I just said hello to #8 Cal Ripken at my local grocery store

I needed to get one more thing tonight for dinner, so I drove to Graul's Super Market which is about 1/4 mile from my house.
Not many people were there, and I noticed the light was on at the first check out stand with no one there except Cal Ripken.
Damn, he's a tall dude.
I said hello and he was cordial as always.
When I got outside, I then watched him get into his fancy black Honda Accord with his two kids inside.
He was headed back home to his gigantor mansion in Worthington Valley no doubt.
Kelly, his wife probably sent him out for the chore.
Last time I saw Cal(and girl friend Kelly) in a super market, was at the Safeway in 1983, when he was just a kid coming onto the baseball scene.
Well, that was worth a visit to the store....very cool.
What cool thing happened to you today???

and he has been dead for 5 or 6 years. Okay, so it was a life size card board cut-out, but it was still Dale not Little E ( thank God) . I can't believe they are still using Dale to sell stuff? And then the girl behind the counter said she likes my new hair cut and it makes me ," look allot younger and cute too " .
<< <i>YoungerThan what? Ray >>
Than most of you guys here.
<< <i>Saw a girl this morning who told me that i looked younger.

Got up this morning and the humidity was wayyyyyy down. Cut down a small tree that was totally unwanted.
Went to the PO to return some Gold & Plat but the %#$@ had new hours - now close at 1 PM instead of 3 PM.
Will have to ship out on Monday by Express now.
I still have my 3 Cal Ripken Rookie Cards I found while in Italy as a member of the 509th Airborne. Don't think I will ever part with them. Packs of Topps were a Quarter - what a bargain.
Saw Cal tie the record at Camden Yards - thought that was cool. Didn't feel like spending a fortune just to see him actually break the record.
I have yet to run into him in the grocery, but the wife has.
Best thing to happen to me today was the kids getting excited about being taken for ice cream for no apparent reason.
Than what?
He reached down and petted her seeing eye dog !...............
I think I would have rather run into Cal Ripken

<< <i>He's a joker who wrote a curse word on his bat when posing for his baseball card.
I believe that was Billy Ripken.
<< <i>Hmmm, I once ran into Danny Bonaduce at the local grocery store (northwest Chicago suburbs).
I think I would have rather run into Cal Ripken
I almost kicked the crap outta Bonadouchebag 15 years ago. He punked out.

<< <i>I'd love to run into Cal Ripken at the store. Iron Man didn't miss a game for 2,632 consecutive games.
Actually it was 2,131, but your passion is most apparent!!!!!

Coxe, great memories of Cal and Spot.....Johnny Carson always had a place in his heart for Cal W. back in the day.

<< <i>Cal Ripkin is a class act. Coming from a red sox fan, thats high praise. >>
I agree, Cal is a class act. He's always a favorite here in Rochester, where he started his career. The Rochester Red Wings were Baltimore's AAA club for many years.

I saw him there that night, too. He was also there the night before that, and before that and before that...
Cal did not call you "copper tweeny?"
Had he done so I am sure that would have made your day!

You never know (how) long it takes to tap into the coin geek in man.
edit:
because I type faster than I think and seldom proofread it before I hit enter.
I have a lot more errors than Cal, that's a given
P.S. Who are the Red Sox ?
