Another interesting Bust Half...the Punctuated Date ..... ::::::

Hmmmm, interesting date, 1817. (All info following taken from Souders' Bust Half Fever). 1817, ranks 6th of 29 in Bust Half mintage (1807-1836). It's the 4th sub design for the series = HUB 1817-1825.

Interesting stuff about the 181.7:

1817 Bust Halves (all of the different die marriages) were the only silver coinage produce by the Mint, in that year.

The punctuation, not believed by Souders to be the remains of an underfigure. More likely just something indenting the die, I guess, like the dot in the 1810/11.
The reverse AMERIJA (the "I" punch was broken), same reverse as used for the exceedingly, exceedingly rare 1817/4 Bust Half.

P.S. Bust Half Fever = great book, you've got to get it
oh...you've got to try this too ===
Collecting Bust Halves = amazingly total satisfaction coupled with total
IN-sanity.
