1909 VDB Matte Proof

I just received the coin I posted pictures of on another post. It has all of the diagnostics as the matte proof should have. The die chip after the M in UNUM is a little hard to see, but it is there. I have posted some new pictures of it below. In hand the matte surface is very even. My question is do you think it is a matte proof since it has all of the diagnostics and the even matte finish? Let me know what you think about it. Also are the proofs supposed to have a double rim?

Is it because of woodgrain that it is not a matte proof?

The rim is rounded, not sharp as on a proof, and the strike is nothing special. The woodgrain, which some posters on this board try to play up as a positive, is ugly.
If this were a proof it should have been slabbed. It isn't.
I hope you didn't pay much for it.
Not ture in the least. Its to each his own correct? I personally love woodgrain on cents.
To you it may be ugly, to me its nice. I see it like collecting vams or toned moderns. Everyone has different tastes its that simple.
Also looking for VF-EF Seated halves.

There should be a small inverted crescent die chip to the right of the M in UNUM. Almost like another period, such as the ones between E and Pluribus, but smaller.
Oh well.....

Only if you photograph it with the grain, not against it.
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!

The pic just above me convinces me that it's not a proof. On a VDB proof look for a die line off the shoulder to the R of liberty. Look for die lines off the nose. The third side of a matte proof should be brilliant.

You are the real A-HOLE. Everyone has a right to what they like, or prefer on a coin. While one person likes vivid colors on a coin, another may turn their noses up and opt for a white coin. It is a matter of preference, and doesnt make someone an A-hole. Calling someone an A-hole because of their personal preference however DOES make you an A-hole. So like I said sir, YOU are the real a-hole!

Don't like woodies? No problem there at all, that a personal opinion.
As most of the posters have said, your coin is NOT a 09VDB proof. I hope you didn't pay much money for this coin. If you are truly searching for a real one, be sure it is in a PCGS or NGC holder. If it is NOT in such a holder, there is a reason why. A real one is currently in the Heritage auction coming up next week at the ANA. It will sell for at least $20k. There IS a reason this coin will sell for so much money. It is extremely rare and almost 98% of the existing coins are in the hands of collectors who do not want to sell. The chance that you could find one from a unknowledgeable dealer or collector is very small. Anyone who would sell you this coin for less than $1,000 is attempting to sell you a non genuine 1909VDB matte proof. If, after what we all have said, you STILL feel you have the real thing, spend the few bucks it takes, and send it to PCGS or NGC for certification. If they slab it, you've hit the jackpot.
