A somewhat silly hypothetical question

When you have a submission in, if you could choose what day would you like to have your coins evaluated?

Do you think there is any difference?
I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

I don't think it makes any difference.
    When in doubt, don't.

i would think time of day would be more of a factor.

More hypothetical premises attempting to analyze graders patterns... it is what it is.. an opinion... albeit a skilled opinion, accept it. Cheers, RickO

Any day that ends in "Y". Seriously, I don't think it matters. Although, it would help if the grader got some the night before. image

In a somewhat related story, I have heard people say that if you submit a coin at a show you are better served to do it right away, rather than wait until day 3, for example, since the graders will get tired and will not give out good grades later in a show.

This never made any sense to me, since if that were true, it would still depend on whether or not the coin you submitted was any good.

If you had something spectacular to grade, it would seem to me that you'd want the graders as attentive as possible so they didn't miss anything. But if you submitted something awful, tired graders may dish out good grades by mistake.

Personally, I think all of this is nonsense, and time spent worrying about it could be better used doing other things.

Like posting in the chatroom, for example.

I'm sure it makes a difference, only proving it through data would be next to impossible unless you had a ton of money to blow on grading fees.

As to what that difference is....we'll likely never know.

But wouldn't the submitter want the graders to miss as much as possible (hairlines, hidden bag marks, PVC, etc)? Still, I think it's all nonsense as well.

  • The hypothetical asks if there is any difference. The answer is yes. Every day is different for every person in some way or event or task. Choose a day and and you will have 0% increase or decrease in controlling events, unless you personally arrange to control the events and outcome thru questionable activity. Then you have to ask if another person decided to change or does change something that will have an impact on your arrangements. Chaos Theory is wonderful and probably the only constant in the grading facility. Respectfully, John Curlis
