I think I remember seeing a picture of that coin when it was raw, there was a long debate over whether it was a genuine Mint product. It was an amazing looking piece, glad to hear it's finally been certified genuine.
Mike Byers does handle some incredible errors, I can only hope someday to afford one of them.

I noticed that one!
another Walker Error -
The coin in the new issue was mine - I bought
it literally from an old, retired coin dealer who
sold me a bunch of his errors that he put away
over 30 years ago - although I knew him in the
70's and 80's, he never told me he had such a
coin (Walking Liberty Half, Double Struck on a
Quarter Planchet), nor was it ever listed/reported
anywhere, to my knowledge.
It came 'out of the woodwork' about two years ago,
and there was never a question in my mint about
it's authenticity.
It's still the only D/S O/M Walking Liberty Half known,
and a great-looking coin, especially in person.
The second strike is cupped from the uniface reverse
strike.
<< <i>Seanq, you must have been thinking of
another Walker Error - >>
Sorry for the mix-up. The coin I'm thinking of was an off center and an off-metal, maybe an O/C Standing Lib quarter on a nickel or cent planchet?
Fred, Mike, I'm still waiting for you guys to come up with a clipped 09-S VDB cent (and some forgiving lay-away terms) for me.

I wish more of these errors that where put away over 30 years ago would surface!
Check with my daughter, or my estate, in
another few decades !!

FredWeinberg, This answer left me speechless, as I don't know how to respond... which my be a first on the forum!
OK... Send me all your daughters info, and we'll start extended, extended, extended terms.
<< <i>Fred- what????? You offered ME first shot. Geeeeeez. LOL >>
Sorry Byers your first shot at FredWeinberg's collection may have been verbal, after this post it's now nil and void!
Error Coins was at the Sacramento Mid-Winter
ANA, in 1999, I believe.....
PCGS's first Mint Error Slabs were of my partial
collection, most of the better pieces, (but not all!)
I put them out in my showcase with a "Not For Sale"
sign, just to show what a major Mint Error would
look like in a PCGS Holder - I NEVER expected the
repsonse, and high dollar offers, my coins received
at the time - it actually caused quite a stir at the time.
The coins are still in those original 1999-era PCGS holders.

Any chance there will be shown again... as you might be surprised at the even higher 2008 offers!
