Put a $65,000 coin on E-Bay BIN with a Make Offer option. (1969-S Double Die Lincoln Cent Certified by NGC MS63BN)

$150 and $250 offers.

Why bother???

No Link as I'm not trying to use this board to sell.

Cool, I keep seeing that coin as I have been searching 1969 ngc and PCGS coins for a while now. Sure wish I could make a legit offer for it!

You know you can set automatic rejections for offers at whatever amount you want on there, don't you?

What you didn't list it with 64,500.00 shipping to beat the fees?image

It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

$65,000 to whom? Is there actually a two-way market for it in that price range?

Why would you list a $65,000 coin on eBay in the first place. image

I always get a kick when I see that "Palace Guy" list $100k + Notes, that no-one ever buys on eBay.

    James,

You mean "Don't you just love ebay bottom feeders..." There are a lot of good buyers on ebay. When I get tired of the lowball offers I put an autoreject at a reasonable price. But lately I haven't bothered. Many of the offers you're getting are probably from doubters like 291fifth above who just can't believe it's worth anywhere close to that and their intent is to insult you. A polite reply with a short education in the coin's value usually infuriates them that they weren't able to get you upset.

Why not list it on E-Bay?

I've had over 1500 views. You can't buy that for $70 any where else, and I have about 5 days left. With the ANA coming up, if one person see's the ad and wants to view the coin, maybe I get a sale.

As for auto rejects, I certianly have that in place, but you can still see any offer made.

I'll list it on my website tonight.

BTW the last AU coin sold for $42,550 at Baltimore.

That buyer is interested in my piece as a slightly lower number. he just needs to sell his first, which he thinks he's done.

So yes there is a market.

Any Lincoln registry set owner, or any rare coin collector. The history behind this coin is very interesting and the rarity of this coin has held up for quite sometime. Will more be found? Hopefully. Will this drop the price to say the 55 DDO? Never. This will always be a "big" dog in the Lincoln cent collection. Maybe one day the price will settle some, but I wouldnt bet on it dropping.

Although its hard to use a the term rare with most modern issues, this coin is rare.

here's a idea: list it for alot less then $65K so it will actually SELL, & you can be done w/ it.

How 'bout starting it at $0.99 with no reserve and let the market determine its' value?image

  • Great coin! The PCGS price guide lists $55,000 for a MS63BN and $60,000 for a MS64BN.

You've got a little wiggle room there and I hope you get the $60K price.

    Good Luck!

I don't know if the price guide(s) are all that useful on a coin like this. It's worth whatever the next person pays, I suppose. The PCGS price guide is probably following the buy/sell transactions, not the other way around. How many of these are known, anyway?

  • "How many of these are known, anyway? "

I believe there are about 25 known and PCGS has graded 3 finer than the one for sale.

No advertising, no e-mails, no nothing. Just hope the guys interested in this happen to check ebay during that week. it is a common misconception that listing a coin on ebay determines it's value in the free market. It does on a frequently traded coin. But on a coin like this that has never traded on ebay before and is of unusual value for ebay there would be almost no chance that the real buyers interested in this coin at the market price would even hear about it, let alone bid. --Jerry

    Hey James,

We've got the table right next to you at ANA. Give us a look at it. I'm sure we'd pay at LEAST $350.00. image

And yes, there are a lot of ridiculous people on eBay.

I agree, it's hard to get 15K views anywhere else for any kind of money. $70 for advertising seems pretty good.
  • I saw your coin yesterday, very nice one. People are just unreal.
You can set the Best Offer to automatically decline offers below a set amount... just an option to throw out there.

Edited with an oops, just read that you already have that in place. I didn't know you could still see the offers so I learned something.

Have bought and sold on BST, many references available when asked.
