Bought a Bust Quarter for my 7070....how 'bout it?

guitarwesguitarwes Posts: 9,290 ✭✭✭

First of all, this is NOT the Capped Bust Quarter I was talking about buying in a previous thread.

Second, this is a nice looking Quarter IMO. The surfaces on it are not as dull as they appear in the pics. And it looks like there is a small strike through under the 1st star....??? Hard to see in the pics.

What grade would you assign it. I'm torn between two grades right now.

IMHO it looks like a very pretty VF25. If it slabs as such through PCGS, it will bring close to EF money due to its beautiful look.

Looks like a perfect example for a 7070 type set. Very nice coin.

Slab schmab. If you threw it on eBay raw with nice photos it would sell with a significant premium over most other VF's as well. You don't need plastic for a coin like that to realize a premium.

1838 is a cool year for bust coin (IMHO)

I like it, nice, reasonable and will look good in a 7070

    Nice crusty original! image

Although it looks like a high end VF on the obverse, it sure looks more like an EF on the reverse. Nice pickup!

Nice coin, Wes. VF35 was my initial impression, and seems to be a popular vote.

thanks for all the great comments again guys.

I was torn between a 30 and a 35. It is a little weaker on the Obv. than the Rev, that's why I was on the fence.

    I'm happy with a VF30.
