Stupid question about silver content in modern commemoratives

I see the prices on the PCGS site for “modern silver commemoratives” listed individually but the silver content is not noted. Then below are the “modern commemorative sets” which house the same coins but the word “silver” is not in the title… are the coins in those sets also made from silver?

Are all modern commemoratives made of silver or no?

If so, is there a list somewhere of the silver content? ... and if not, is there a way to tell the silver from the non silver?

Modern commem dollars are 90% silver. Halves - most, anyway - are clad.

  • Of the Halves, the 1982 Washington and 1993 Bill of Rights (Madison) are Silver. The rest of the Halves are clad. I'm pretty sure.

The silver dollar commens have the same specs as the Morgan dollar with about .77 troy ounces of fine silver.

  • Hi,

The reason I'm asking is, I have a bag of these and of course, I'd like to know which are silver and which are not.

Looking more closely... under silver commemoratives they list, 1986-D 50C Statue Of Liberty, 1989-D 50C Congress, 1991-D 50C Mount Rushmore, 1995-S 50C Basketball, and several more...

...so, if I have a 1986-D 50C Statue Of Liberty are they all silver or are there clad and silver versions?

The only modern commemorative half dollars that are 90% silver are the 1982 Washington and the 1993 Bill of Rights. All other modern commemorative half dollar copper-nickel clad composition with no silver. It doesn't matter if they are proof or business strikes. Only those two halves have any silver.
  • Thanks... and I'm not arguing but, please tell me what I'm reading wrong... the pcgs.com site 'seems' to list several 50 cent pieces on the Silver Commermoratives page:

I guess I'm reading something wrong... can you tell me what?

In that case, PCGS is the stupid one.
Just Washington and Bill of Rights. I have them both.
