ENGS COINS IS MY COMPANY,SAYING THAT YOU WOULD NOT PUT A MS 69 PEACE DOLLAR IN MY HOLDER IF YOU HAD ONE IS SLURING MY COMPANY. I TALKED TO MY ATTORNY HERE IN EVANSVILLE, INDIANA AND HE'S GIVING YOU 1 WEEK TO REMOVE YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT MY GRADING SERVICE.OR YOU WILL BE IN COURT AT YOUR COST.
1 WEEK. TERRY JONES >>
Another delusional self slabber playing pretend coin grader with generic snap together slabs he ordered from a magazine add. There's no lawyer and there's no "company" (except, maybe in the land of delusional make believe illiterates). Besides, making a statement to the effect that you would not submit one of your coins to his "grading service" does not even approach slander. I would not respond (because you might say something like I just did), and I would NOT remove your comments.
My primary web site is music oriented, which includes discussion and reviews of various CDs released over the years. Every now and then I'll have some irate band member/manager/label owner threaten me with all sorts of things from being sued to being ripped limb from limb, because they don't like the manner in which their "art" (and I use the term loosely) is reviewed.
I always tell them that I'm happy to remove any offending material... upon receipt of a formal request, on letterhead from a verifiable law firm, sent via certified mail.
To date, not ONE party has ever followed through on that request. They usually just bluster and go away.
Anybody can say and claim anything on the anonymous internets.
CAH, your web site is outstanding IMHO and a service to the numismatic community.
I've admired in the past how well you lay out the facts without being either nasty or making yourself a target of legal action.
It's inevitable that the occasional self-slabber or 'MS68-69-70' slabber will send an email to you expressing outrage and threatening to sue. Be greatful that this guy did so in a manner that said everything about his inability to do more than rant.
Please don't change your web site! And I think it's cool that you added a summary of the guy's email.
Relax, know that you are doing good work and have the support of a lot of us, including financial if it ever came to that. Rob

You are entitled to have an opinion. You opined that you would not use his service. How was he slandered? Did you accuse him of criminal activity? Did you impugn his reputation? I don't think so.

It also costs time and money to lose. If no purpose is served by leaving the comment/statement posted then just remove it.
The courts may have ruled that coin grading is an opinion, but the facts prove otherwise. I would stand up in court and defend this fact. I'm confident that I could convince the court to accept my arguments as facts.
However, I edited my comments, but not out of fear. I just chose a better method of solving this matter. I know the Governor of Ohio personally and a few other politicians because I worked and went to school with them. Plus, I was a treasurer and web master for the largest union in Ohio.
I can get something done with theses connections, and it might mean a trip to Washington, so I will save my funds for this, instead of fighting this guy, and spending it on lawyer fees and court cost. He can't beat me, and this has made me realize how bad these fraud TPGS has become.
You will not here the last of this. I thank everyone for their advice and comments, but this has become personal and complex. Something has to be done on a Federal level, and I have the knowledge and motivation to pursue it. ENGS will be happy to know they started a mess that they can't handle.
Why would it go poof? Threads exposing these third world slabbers are good for PCGS.

I don;t think PCGS could be held responsible for opinions expressed on these boards unless they were criminal and then the poster and the thread would go bye bye!
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I decided to edit my thoughts on ENGS. Not out of fear, but because I had another idea. I edited the content of my site, then sent a courtious email telling the owner that I edited and politely asked the owner if he had a website, contact information, submission address or a guarantee on the coin's grade in ENGS slabs.
It's been a week and I haven't recieved a response. So now I will go to the next level, and post my findings on his ENGS junk service, and that he refuses to give me any contact information, and that this company makes threat with lawyers, fake or real, unknown. I will find out more about this person and ENGS.
No such thing. I honestly received an email from the owner of ENGS. I thought the members of this message board would like to hear this story, and what has been happening with the issue. I was dumb-founded by the email, and wanted serious advice from lawyers or knowledgeable members of this board.
If I wanted to generate more traffic to my website, then I would just post on every thread, and start a thread that said, "Great new coin website". I would get some posters saying it was spam, but I could generate 100+ hits from the thread before it ended.
So please don't make this out to be more than what it is.

So, please enlighten me....what has been happening? Thank you.
C.A.H., you might want to post a query on the Coins and Paper Money discussion board at ebay, a regular poster there, gary cooke, has researched most of the SSS's out there and he may be able to provide you with some info. If this SSS is new to him, he is a very good in depth researcher. BTW I really like your website, keep up the good work!
I can't believe I over looked this important aspect of Terry Jones. His email address. I asked him for ENGS's website, contact infomration, and grading guarantee, but he never responded. Anyway I got to looking over the email and noticed it was terry@srapgoldusa.com.
So I visited Scrap Gold USA and the site is real, so is the Evansville, Indiana address. Anyone here from this area? Anyway, this is where it gets confusing. His site says click on Olduscoin.com to learn more about us, but the link is dead.
I guess you guys can do whatever you need to do with this information.

Go to google or yahoo.
Search for "engs coin grading service"
You will see THIS thread as the second item on google and the fifth item on yahoo.
And I don't see much else about 'engs'. That self-slabber does not seem to have a website.
[edit] How long 'til this thread goes poof?

The language, grammar and overall tone of 'both sides' of this story seems remarkably similar.
