Fess up. What's your worst eBay feedback on a coin deal?

Keep it short, no need for the history, background or tra, la, la, la, la.

<<At first it looked like an ugly coin. Although I think it is still a good deal.>>

Gee, I offered a full refund, but he said he wanted to keep it. image

My first neg...image now removed, from a "power s......" that is now history "?????" He left that with 10 other buyers that did not get product. Paypal refunded $400, guess account freezing did not go over to well. Only neg seller after a neg. was left for me and clean, appropriate, and fact base comment was left
  • Not me personally, but this is a true story -

a buyer left neutral feedback that although they liked Lib Std Half Dime, they complained it was too small!

I have never gotten a negative on a coin deal, only left them for NPB's and most recently a purchase that took over a month to receive.

    Well, let's see.

I have a neg from a seller who retaliated when I negged him after waiting two months for my purchase to arrive.

I have a neg from a forum member who created a new eBay account just to buy something, never pay for it, and neg me.

And, I have a neg from a deadbeat buyer who tried to pass a $300 bad check.

Neutral: "The half dollar was significantly more toned than shown."

I thought I was pretty up front in my auction (which is no longer listed)

Well, I certainly did not want to remove it from the mint cellophane to show the toning more clearly!

Oh well. Some people seek out toning. Some do not.

I don't think there is anything I could have done to avoid this neutral.

Almost got one from a guy that bought a mint sealed box, he opened the mint sealed box and didn't like the way the mint packaged it, he said all those air bags they use were flat and he expected more???. I offered him a full refund even offered to reimburse his shipping he ended up messaging me with "It's all good", the price had gone up since the sale and maybe influenced his decision...
  • Never been negged. Dinged in the communication star by a buyer who thought I should be able to speak his language. I only speak english.

  • Bought a Peace Dollar where the pictures, lighting and angle made the coin appear UNC. I recieved an AU coin, asked for refund, and sent the coin back with delivery confirmation. I waited a week and they said they never got the coin. Three weeks later they still hadn't got it. USPS showed the time and day delivered. I filed complaints, they accused me of sending it to another person in the same area that I knew just so I could keep the coin and get a refund. I lost the complaints. At least, it was under $100.

However, they re-listed the coin, but I couldn't prove it. Bad deal.

No negs, the worst is "No problems" or "Coin was as represented"
    image

  • I got a retaliatory neg about 3 years ago. I had sold a coin... long story short, there was an issue with the coin sent and I was very disleased with how the buyer handled it. He left me a generic positive feedback (I'm pretty sure it was by accident--we had exchanged some harsh words)... and then I thought I was safe to leave a neg. I did so... and he then hit the BIN on one of my auctions and instantly negged me.
  • No negs but I did get a neutral a few years ago... something about how I require payment with bank checks only or something like that... which of course I don't.

I also have several mediocre positive feedbacks of the "as described" variety. Perhaps we should not be insulted by remarks like this. Many ebay coins are cleaned or altered with deceptive pictures and descriptions, so when I am the buyer, I'm usually relieved to receive one that is actually "as described."

I agree. When something is "as described", to me that indicates a seller that is honestly describing the coin they are selling and not hyping it too much or using tricky photography to hide problems.

It may not be an enthusiastic endorsement, but it is a clearly positive statement given how much crap there is on eBay.

    Me, too.
  • No negative for coins....a few for comics many years ago. I did have a buyer who had bought dozens of coins from and still does leave some type of comment about the toning being darker in hand than in the image as usuall.....which was true becuase the coins are imaged raw before submission and I place the coins under strong lighting to show off the colors. I also include slabbed images so that can get several different views of what the coin will look like in hand. I wasn't offended but it seemed like he wasn't happy but never mentioned a thing after spending thousands of dollars so it must not have been a big issue to him either?
