Ebay coin sellers.....you guys suck !

And, not in a good way.

With the promotion of the 10-15-20-25% back from the MS-Ebay-Paypal item, I see very few coin sellers trying to take legit advantage of it.
Find the price you would take for the coin, add 5-8% or whatever to cover the ebay/paypal fees, and you are likely to do some quick sales.

I keep looking, and looking, and haven't found any coins with a BIN that I would want yet.
If someone put a BIN on a nice coin, in a price range that was appropriate and I wanted that coin, I would happily buy it and get my % back from MS in 60 days to buy the coin now.

I see people taking advantage of this by selling actual cash, etc, but, a lot of the sellers I watch, incl many that do the BIN a lot, either don't take paypal (they have been burned before), or they have NOTHING for sale right now.

I was thinking the same. I've only used it twice and one wasn't even a coin. With the cash back I'll overpay, but I won't overpay 50%.

Sure....2 hours after the promotion ends (which I have no idea when it does but I will be sad then....I still have 2 more times I can use it, out of the 3)

I've been searching diligently for two days and have yet to find a coin seller with a BIN that is reasonable enough to bother using the current 20% cashback. Most BIN's are so ridiculously high that even with a 20% rebate the coin is priced way ahead of the market. I found ONE coin that didn't have a BIN but that if added, would have been priced right to the market after the 25% cashback that was in effect earlier this week. I actually tracked down the dealer's phone number, called him and very politely asked him to add the BIN at his opening bid, which was untouched with 1 day left. He refused to add BIN; the item didn't sell and so he paid the listing fee on his overpriced coin for zip - nada - zilch. Real intelligent

I've got lots of buffalo gold and 2006-W AGE 4 coin sets up--all MS70 PCGS that you could have for melt with a discount like that. This weekend I'll be putting up the 4 pc set in a cool PCGS Multiholder. Hey, we don't all suck. Sometimes we blow. --Jerry

not Microsoft.

When it was announced that "Microsoft is paying for the cashback program" it means that they are paying for the promotion and
administration of the program, and the merchants pay no cost of THOSE EXPENSES, some will be surprised to see a $350 charge
from Paypal on that $1000 gold eagle they sold 60 days earlier....

Cashback merchant partners--the advertisers--set the cashback percentage. This is their cost-per-action (CPA) price. Microsoft then passes this entire amount through to the consumer.

What does that mean? It means Microsoft generates no revenue from cashback.

Frank, once again, I think you are in err. What you seem to be saying is that if a seller puts a BIN, they can choose to do the cashback program or not and the % to do it at. Admittedly, I haven't tried it, but so far, every BIN seller, that accepts ebay, has had the same % when I go to them from the main linkage.

Also, there are many more partners than just ebay/paypal. Those partners most likely DO set the %. That is likely where the info is coming from (I read your posted link). Did you notice your link didn't mention the ebay/paypal portion at all? It is most likely a special deal with ebay/paypal and MS. I don't know, also haven't searched, what all the deals are out there. I don't think you do either though you seem to want people to think you do.

Promotionally speaking, it would be a NIGHTMARE if the BIN sellers got surprised by a hit like that, without knowing about it or opting in. Neither MS nor ebay are that stupid.

Clicks with no sales cost the seller nothing, but those sellers offering the biggest discounts are listed first in the search rankings. Jellyfish kept half the
money, and passed half to the buyer. Of course, the sellers sign up and agree to pay these commissions to jellyfish automatically.

Microsoft bought jellyfish, and renamed it Live Search Cashback. As an incentive, they are passing 100% of the discount to the buyer. But Microsoft is not spending billions of dollars of THEIR money. The money ultimately comes from the seller, who pays the commission.

The program has been launched in a confusing way, much disinformation is in the discussion groups and blogs. Sellers are being told to "always click on the 35% discount..

I don't know why "he" mentions that but it sounds like you are just ASSuming again. Like I said, if you come back with facts, that is one thing. Until then, you are letting your natural negativism run rampant again.
I see very little that you post that is factual or isn't whining.
(no coin pics, no helping folks, nothing.....not that one has to do that but it is something I have noted with your posts).

They must not like you if pay much more than that....when I sell, the combo for paypal/ebay fees generally is around (a bit less I think) 10%.
I am not a powerseller and don't get the DSR kickbacks, so for some, it could be less. So, charge 10% extra for all I care, if it is a correctly priced BIN on a nice item, it should sell quickly.

Guess some folks would rather whine about ebay and the fees than find a solution to sell?

Frank is wrong in assuming that the eBay sellers are picking up the tab. He is correct that some other merchants are picking up the tab, but they are only giving a 2-10% discount. If you log on to Live Search.com, you'll notice the merchants who have signed up with MSN & what discounts are available through them. BTW eBay did not sign up as a regular merchant ( I did not see their name )...

Here is what eBay has to say about this limited time offer.

Yeah...you are one of the sellers in my "Favorites" list, so you definitely are in the "you guys suck!" category on this with nothing listed

I like some of your copper (the toned stuff in particular

) as well as other stuff you put up. You have too much good stuff for me to just point out.....you are welcome to PM me if you have certain things you are looking to list (maybe lump it all together

.... though, sometimes it is good to keep ebay out of it at all, unless both sides hit a good win-win price point)
