NT or AT on this ASE

This seller has a few toned coins. They are graded pcgs but is there a way that this could have been done to the coin after it was graded?

I didn't capture the luster well at all, but the colors are spot on. With that stated, you're right... some are much prettier than others and others are downright 'unusual' to say the least.
<< <i>I am not concerned so much with the beauty or lack there of. I was trying to see if people can manipulate slabbed coins. To me and I am NOT EVEN CLOSE to being an expert, it looked fake. Looked like the seller somehow manipulated the coin. >>
No, the holders/slabs are tight, and I'm sure that is the way they all looked when they were submitted to PCGS for grading.
but not my taste
I wouldn't say ugly though

Well, just Love coins, period.

Leave your paws off the surface. I know true believers say this is NT..I call BS
I don't know how or when this happened but I have never had a ASE tone like this.
Outside in the sun or inside in the shower area. My ASE's have always and I mean always
started as a ring along the rim and slowly moved to the center.
If this collector has been able to get these to tone this much in such a short time with NT
methods he needs to write a book..
<< <i>Has someone found a way to AT a coin after it has been slabbed. This seller seems to have an awful lot of strongly toned slabbed coins. >>
The seller has already responded in the thread
Why don't you ask him
Btw...the toning looks NT to me. I have some that started out white and pure but toned similar in only the air I breathe at my house.
The spotting, at least in mine and I would guess on this one, is from dust particles. Mine weren't in an album but were on display in parts of the house. Sometimes I would stand them up in the windowsill and sometimes I would use the little plastic holders.
Others were in my closet sitting amongst other things.
None had anything put on them that, I think, people would deem to be AT producing. No chemicals, etc. Again, just the air I breathe (and, unless I flipped them over for some reason, the reverses are still blast white).
So, for those that say "mine never do that so it must be AT", maybe you just don't have enough experience

At what??? Sitting a ASE on a window seal...Or up against the wall in the shower room.
Heck I have had one sitting on my desk for over a year now on a display stand. It has just started
a brown rim tone this past few months.
Please clue me in on the experience I need to get a ASE to NT like this sellers...Pretty please with clorox on top
Maybe my inside air is less toxic than others. That dang airpurifier must be doing it's job.
And since my oversized A/C unit draws the moisture out of the house also I'M SCREWED

He specializes in selling toned coins as do I and and a few other sellers on Ebay so it's no surprise that you see plenty of toned coins in his Ebay inventory.
...A sneeze (or sternutation) is a semi-autonomous, convulsive expulsion of air from the lungs, most commonly caused by foreign particles irritating the nasal mucosa. Sneezing can further be triggered through sudden exposure to bright light, a particularly full stomach, or as a result of unexpected, climatic variations in one's environment such as rapid changes in temperature and humidity levels.
AT.......Organically speaking.

Well, I will take your response as calling me a liar. That's fine. I've posted some pics of the ones that have toned on me, over the last year or so, so I am comfortable with it.
I don't have A/C, I live in the PNW, and I don't have harsh winters or summers.
Know what? I also have not had a single ASE develop a milkspot. I have a few that have toned, and have a spot that I think, in a different environment, would have gotten a milkspot (due to the toning pattern).
Now, I am not saying all are NT or all are AT. Seller has already stated they are consigned. Seller has also stated, in ones questioned in the past, if they were his, so, for them being consigned, I believe him.
I also believe the one shown here could be NT.
I also think that so many that jump on here and say "AT because I ain't seen it on mine" are not ones that I will learn much from as they generally don't have much to add.
Now, if someone says "well, the color progression is off because on NT silver, it goes from xxx-yyy", then that is someone I will listen to and try to learn from. They are trying to teach and not just come across as a know it all.

But I will leave you with PCGS's opinion on AT..Look at the colors and the colors of the ASE posted last night
in a previous post from the same consignment and form your own opinion. Which is what I did.
A liar by definition knowingly says something they know to be untrue. I would have no way of knowing
what you said to be untrue. So I left it as a difference of opinion. You my fellow member stated I did not
have the proper experience to properly NT a ASE. I simply asked for those suggestions.
Your remark about your enviroment explained to me it was a difference of enviroment. I have a large air purifier
very large A/C unit and I keep a low humidity level in my house. That would explain the difference in our ASE examples.
The 90% that is kept in my fire safe with 8inch thick walls have developed a nice purple hue to them.
But none have toned as wild as these examples.
Straight from the PCGS web site................
QUESTIONABLE TONING
All U.S. coins tone to some degree. How and to what degree are determined by various factors. Their metal content, where and how they are stored, and atmospheric conditions play the biggest roles in determining the depth and color of the toning. When acquired naturally over time, toning is often viewed as a positive attribute of grading, unless it becomes too dark, thick, mottled, or splotchy. When the toning results from the application of chemicals to the surface of a coin over a short period of time, perhaps with the use of heat to speed the process, the coin is said to have artificial or questionable toning.
The most obvious difference between natural and questionable toning is the way in which the toning "lies" upon the surface of a coin. When an original coin tones over time, the toning appears to be attached to the surface from the "bottom up." There is an appearance of depth to the toning and the colors are rich and natural looking. When a coin is toned quickly by the introduction of chemicals and/or heat to the coin's surfaces, the toning floats on the surface and the color lacks depth. The toning appears shallow and not "attached" to the surface, as with original color. The colors associated with this type of toning tend to be unnatural-looking, often called "crayon" colors because they look as though they were "colored" on the coin's surface-weak pastel colors "painted" by a first-grader.
I am fine with their definition
