Ebay forger from China using 90% silver

Ebay seller from China, using the Western sounding name robert2313513, is producing 90% silver copies of US coins, and, oddly, 90% silver CANADIAN coins, which were produced in 92.5% (sterling) until 1920, and 80% silver thereafter (until 1968)
Very likely that these can be ordered without the "replica" stamping on request. Advanced collectors still won't be fooled, but many will, especially since the fake will weigh correctly.
From his boilerplate:

Those greedy SOB's at EBAY are doing us collectors a great dis-service by bringing China into the community. Why dont they do the right thing and shut down all the auctions from China offering any type of coins, replicas, or copies

I couldn't have said it better, and it needs repeating:

I knew it would happen.
Ebay doesn't care, and never will. Fee based business, all about the bottom line, the hell with ethics.
The definition of capitaliism has been modified: free enterprise, private interest, profit motive, GENERATE PROFIT BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY, ETHICAL OR UNETHICAL
I find this very disturbing, and having damaging ramifications, in the future.

Ebay lost the Japan / Korea market to Yahoo Auctions which still flourishes there. They have made it very clear that they do not intend to lose China even if it rips your hobby apart.
Get used to it.
Ugh.

fake coins in fake PCGS slabs are now being sold at US swap meets, having personally seen a whole table of them in Phoenix recently. Most were bullion related, and the price of them were a little above melt so i'm sure that there must have been takers. the flood begins.

A ban on sellers from China would only mean more middle men and a slight delay in the problem coins getting to America. There are some without ethics in America or other countries, that would act as middleman, for a percentage of course.
Many hobbies have been overrun with fakes, replicas, altered items for years, with much worse problems, much more documentation than these fake coins from China. Buyers need to be very careful, and not just from sellers in China, and not just with raw coins because they are faking slabs as well as coins. There are plenty of middlemen (and women) without ethics that will step up if there is money to be made.
The vast majority of collectors do not have the knowledge to authenticate coins. Most never will be able to spot a high quality fake. Most folks can't grade consistently, and authentication requires ten times as much knowledge and experience, when looking at high quality fakes. Fakes are a serious problem that I believe is going to get a lot worse. A ban on sellers from specific countries would only mean one more step.
1) Darkside PCGS coins: many of the PCGS encapsulated Chinese coins on eBay are from Chinese sellers
2) Other Chinese coins: some of the more off the beaten track Chinese dark side can only be readily ordered from Chinese eBay sellers
Are coins in these categories as likely to be fakes as say US coins from Chinese eBay sellers?

That modification to capitalism happened a long, long time ago. Just look at the number of EPA Superfund sites that are centuries old. You can also google "King Leopold" to find out about the role that millions of amputated Congoese hands played in Belgium's colonial success. These are the tip of the iceberg.
As for the Chinese copies, do you think that the recent counterfeiting fine that France imposed on Ebay will change some of their profiteering policies? I am tempted to write email to Ebay bringing the similarities of the two cases to their attention, but doubt that it would do anything more than have them pull my ID.
BTW, Jefferson never made that quote about big government. It was said first by Gerald Ford. Check for yourself, if you doubt it, on wikiquote or google.

Good point, thanks for bringing it up.
there are also some big-time dealers in Hong Kong, that have ebay presence. I just got three ebay auction lots in the mail in the past week, all from China and Hong Kong and all from very reputable sellers that i've spent thousands with previously.

Fraud and crime are not capitalism. Crime and fraud are dependent upon either taking money and goods from others either via use of force or deception. Whether it is a government confiscating funds and property or a confidence man scaming a victim, neither have anything to do with captialism.
Read Rose Wilder Lane's Discovery of Freedom, bit rambling at times, but cuts to the heart.
And yes this implies Ebay is acting as an accomplice to crime.

that is "accomplice" to crime. But yes, they are helping the Chinese counterfeiters to "accomplish" their crimes too.
REPLICA is stamped across every one I saw listed.

Ha!
You can send a direct email to EBay Trust and Safety (ANA, Coin Watchers Group), this method seems to work better than the violations link below the auction itself. Send mail to: rswebhelp@ebay.com
If everyone who complained in this and the other thread just writes to rswebhelp@ebay.com you'll see these auctions gone very quickly

Again, thanks.

In the case of this coin, it's still legal tender. We need the Treasury Department to actually take criminal action against E-Bay, as they are part of a counterfeiting ring. One raid on their corporate office and some the execs being indicted is the medicine that's needed.

It's always been this way. This is not a recent phenomenon.
