my 'small' problem with another BST forum member....

DoubleEagle59DoubleEagle59 Posts: 8,381 ✭✭✭✭✭
on June 22nd, I listed a group of BU modern cents, nickels dimes, quarters and halves all for $200.

a forum member (who will remain nameless) contacted me on that day (about noon time) and asked me if I was interested in selling only the Memorial cents (I have 84 of them).

that evening I replied to0 him 'yes, I can sell them separately' and I quoted him a price.

my 'small' problem is that since June 22nd, I have not heard back from him.

Maybe he's on holidays, I don't know.

All I know is it's very rude not to respond, even if you think my price is too high, a reply would be nice. I also sent him another PM, stating that he could counter with another price if he wanted.

No reply.

Oh well.....on to the next transaction, I guess.

I would not worry about it. Just sell it to the next person. I agree it is a little rude not to reply. If you have other buyers waiting, I would go ahead and sell the coins.

I've never felt the necessity to place a time frame in my terms of service here. Your situation may be a sign of a changing trend however.

I'd just send him/her a message saying you're assuming they no longer wish to purchase the coins and you're placing them back on sale. No biggie.

    Rude, possibly.
    Thoughtless, certainly.

    Move on, I say.

I never thought about time limits when dealing with offers for coins from my website, either.

Until a week and a half had gone by with no response and I received a second inquiry about a couple of the same coins, that is. image
  • Has the member logged in since your first PM? Maybe something happened to him/her.

If I were in your shoes, I'd move on and relist the coins.

Just PM the possible buyer a courtesy notice, letting him know you got other buyers intrested...

a reply has now been received by me from the BST forum member and eventhough the transaction has not been completed, the 'lines of communication' are once again opened!image

I've had a few of these myself. The most recent example where someone wanted prices and dates on a number of proof sets I have. After spending 30 min digging them out, pricing them, and typing them into a PM, no reply. And I have seen him post multiple times since then, so I know he's not 'on vacation'. Fortunately the many good transactions far outweigh the few like this.

i feel if you do not get a reply back in a timely manner you simply
send a message stating you are seeking other offers and move on.
simple as that. until the deal is sealed by them wanting to send
payment to an address every offer is considered!

    That person is me image

I've been having problems with my computer after it was hijacked by this stupid thing after I was surfing the net for coins.

I've managed to stop it from popping up again, but it still shows a bunch of error messages, and I have not been able to do much with my computer in terms of javascript.

My sincere apologies for the problem.

Same thing happened to me once. Oh well, move on and never sell to them, or charge a 5% rudeness fee next time they come fishing.

EDIT: This was NOT yesterdays transaction, lol, better make that clear.

Ben and I have resolved the situation and in the future, I would have no problem whatsoever in doing business with Ben again.

No matter who you are and what you sell you are going to have to deal with people like this. I give people 2 chances to screw with me then I just ignore them image
  • Has he posted since he wrote to you?

Sometimes people are away or working late unexpectedly or his computer could have even crashed.

It's also possible he didn't get the email... emails not 100% perfect, even in forums... toss him another email.

I have read the whole thread DE.

If you got no responce than move on (no reason to post this IMHO, you jumped the gun)
OffMetal has posted and I believe what he says, you did not get burned for anything DE so once again I say..........you jumped the gun.

I agree...would also be good if folks that reply (not you) read the entire thread before posting.....it was resolved already yet some people tossed in their comments after only reading the first post.....sheeesh

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

There was recently a legal issue with a person who posts on the BST. Maybe that has something to do with it. Sending PM...
  • You think that's bad, lol, I one time had someone interested in buying everything I had for sale (not on here, but the same stuff), and I gave them a price. They were fine with that, and were ready to do paypal or a check, and I said I wasn't able to take either at the moment, but I could accept a postal money order, or a cash (doubt he'd want to send it that way, as it was close to $200 worth of stuff, LOL, but always make the offer IMHO). NEVER heard back from him, sent him a good 3 or 4 private messages, his profile on the board says he's been on, but he won't reply. Held me up for a good 2-3 weeks, aiii, lol. But, more of a big disapointment than anything. I'm done now. image

It would be good for the OP to update the first post as well. That's probably easier to do than to get people to read the entire thread?
