I bought this coin from Rarcoa recently and had pictures taken. Thoughts?

    Or could you say a 9/10 or 90% of 70 = MS63?

I'd have to have a different look if I owned a MS66 1921 Peace Dollar.

BUT I'll be the first to admit that what I like isn't the most popular with other collectors. Since I like the 1921 Peace the most, I'll take some pics of what I have in a few minutes.

Well, it has a nice strike for a 1921 Peace.

It appears well struck and lustrous, though I don't personally care for that sort of toning pattern.

If you like it that's all that counts, right?

I love all Peace dollars, especially the '21. I have an MS66 in my registry set. And I have a sweet, unmolested, circulated one I keep in my desk so I can hold and look at it often.

Keep it. Love it like it is. Or send it in to NCS for a bath.

Agree. Don't care for the dark splotchy toning. Very unattractive.

I'd say keep it and love it as is - or sell it and get one that you like better.

Sending a P66 to NCS requires cajones even larger than the ones pictured in the Xray in StaintGuru's thread a week ago. My guess is NCS would advise you not to crack it. But if you did, on your own, then sent it to them, the grade may come back 64 (hey, it's possible) and the finished product may be reeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaally unattractive.

    "Thoughts?"

I hope it looks better in-hand.

  • Defiantly a nice strike and toning is toning but, honestly, that toning I don't care for... just my personal preference.

I'd say dip it or circle a Q Tip soaked in MS70 from the center out leaving the toning at the edges and around the rim but, eh... that's just me.

Either way, congrats on a wonderful addition to your collection!

I love it just the way it is. It looks old as it should.

I'm not too big on splotchy toners but can appreciate the luster and strike. I'd probably wait for a different one.
