  • No shipping listed anywhere you should have asked. With that said if he doesn't send it overnight I would neg him.

Agreed, even if the price is right, I'll skip an auction if they don't respond with the shipping in time. Too many auctions with $50+ shipping.

so i'll see how this plays out when he replies to my message sent

    "hi,
is there any reason why you are asking for $15.00 to ship a coin when you ask $8.00 to ship a picture frame with flyfishing stuff in it?
    please reconsider"

Be very careful when sellers don't state their shipping & handling charges... A "hook & bait" scheme.

You can leave him a negative. It's your choice.
Just remember : He can use a very clever positive to paint you in a negative light, as well.

I've got to agree, how can you price the coin if you don't know what shipping is? Ask first, then factor it in.

If seller insists shipping is $15, it had better be registered or overnight, otherwise 1 star and a neg is YOUR decision to make.

image..Once in a long while I forget to check seller terms or lack of. So far , no out of line charges. IMO $3 and no more than $5 is a fair charge. Any more than that, I would not go so far as a neg. but give a neutral, being less than happy. image

That's the problem with idiot sellers. You shouldn't have to ask what the shipping will be before you bid. It is not unreasonable to
expect a seller to come back with 5 bucks or under. That is still to high in my book unless it is a coin of value.

It is not reasonable to charge 5 dollars more than the coin is worth to ship it. Pay for the coin and file a excessive shipping charge
dispute with ebay/paypal. If more buyers filed disputes for stupid shipping charges something will be done about it.

I know the seasoned and honest sellers on this board complained when ebay flirted with set shipping charges. Well this is why they
thought of the idea. Idiot sellers raping buyers with 15 dollar shipping for a 10 dollar coin. These sellers will get what they deserve.

Better yet stay off fleabay and support your fellow BST sellers..Post a WTB if you need something and don't see it.

I am going to give kudos to a forum member for their morals and ethics. I posted a thread for Canadian Maples. My buy price was 20 dollars shipped.

Cartwheel sent me this----two silver Maple Leafs; $35 delivered.

Please take a look at my sale ad:

How's that for being an honest seller..Offers to sell me what I need for 5 bucks under what I was willing to pay....image

How does he break the shipping down?

Sounds like excissive shipping fees that could be reportable.

    Well,
If you look at his feedback, you will see he is getting a 4.5 for shipping charges. Remember, some people also charge for the time it takes to package an item if it is fragile.
  • I searched completed listings for 3753jimmy and he he not sold any coins lately.

    What gives?

The charges are for ink, paper, licking the envelope, tape, handling, the time it takes to print, cost of gas to run to Office Depot, a cup of coffee on the way because how fair would that be to the seller to not have this included ?... Lest we forget the time it took to list the item, photograph it and catalogue it ?

It sounds like you are getting off pretty cheap friend. Be grateful !

  • << <i>Too many auctions with $50+ shipping >>

For those who may not have seen the small print at the bottom of each auction there is a link

    << <i> Report this item >>

and it has pull downs for excessive shipping charges.

Although it has been a quite while since I myself have seen any. I have seen them in the past and wish I had known about the link.

Why do "experienced" people still buy when no shipping charges are shown? And, without asking the seller before bidding/buying?
    I just don't get that.

As for using the time for the work to add to the "handling" charges......you all are lucky that you aren't paying MY rate (or that of other members' if they had their pay broken into hourly....) you would think that $15 was a bargain image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
