successful selling on eBay

For successful selling on eBay,

1. Having pictures is not the same as sight-seen. If you do not provide a return privilege or explicitly deny a return privilege, it is considered to be a sight-unseen transaction and you are most likely not to get the higher bids.

2. If you don't like the prices your auctions have realized, set a more comfortable opening bid or a reserve.

I always add as a bonus a free fry and coke at Mickey D's. I sell every auction over price when I do this.

Mike, I just had 30 coins end on Monday evening. For the first time ever, I specified a "no return" policy. Almost every coin brought far more than I had expected. Did I leave any money on the table by not offering return? Probably. Was that miniscule amount worth the fact that I wont have to deal with coins potentially coming back? Probably. The reality is that in well over 200 sales, I have had just 3 returns. I dont hype slabbed coins, and I give honest opinions on raw coins I sell. I try to take the best pictures I can, and almost always start the bidding at 1 cent, no reserve. So why did I decide to not accept returns this time? Basically its because im out of U.S. type coins now and do not wish to have any come back.

    I agree.

But if you do such and don't get the results you like, it's probably your fault.

I've never sold anything on eBay but let's say if I find a coin in my change that is valued at about $200 (from books or previous auctions) and I want to quickly sell it.

Do I use eBay, sell on this forum, or try a coin shop?

At the recent ebay live meeting for sellers, instead of the standing room only crowd of rah-rah-rah ebayers as seen in past years, less than half of the seats were filled, and there were some angry confrontations, such as this seller who shut down a meeting after a 27 year old ebay employee explained how not being able to leave negative feedback for a deadbeat buyer actually helps sellers....(poor quality from a cell phone camera...ebay had banned video equipment)

The video should have come with a transcript. Sounds like some hot-head was upset about something, but I couldn't understand the audio well enough to really get the jist of the conversation...

    Anyone have a transcript?

My buyers are happy, eBay employees are happy, Pay Pal employees are happy and the USPS employees are happy.
That's what I call successful selling on eBay.
I'm not richer, but I like to think I create jobs for the underpriveleged. image
