The pics are to small to tell much.
It'll be okay.
Hopefully it's a 65DMPL, that would be a nice rip.
<< <i>Why do you think your offer was accepted? >>
The seller claims to have hit the accept button instead of decline.

I think you meant to say..."The seller meant to hit the decline button but clicked on accept instead"... or did you?
What you said...well...
I can say with almost certainty that the seller clicked on the accept button instead of the decline button. I believe the seller in this regard; no reason to argue!
i cannot ever imagine paying that kind of money for such a common
coin in a common condition.
yup pessimistic. that is me!
<< <i>looks like a common date morgan to me in 64-65 based on the pics.

What would you pay for a common date common grade then?
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
<< <i>If it's an MS64 then at $73 you paid a little more than these are typically worth. Can you tell the difference between an MS64 and MS65? If so, and it's an MS65, then you did well but would likely have to pay to have it graded by PCGS to gain much upon resale. If not, then you are not out all that much. Regardless, you have a seven-day return period, which means there is little downside other than two-way postage. >>

Cool example of a now-defunct TPG product, tho.
Check out my current listings: https://ebay.com/sch/khunt/m.html?_ipg=200&_sop=12&_rdc=1
If it is Proof like (as it appears in the certification picture) the Price Guide shows it at $285. It might be just semi-proof like, which would still be an attractive coin.
In any case the 1879-S is considered one of the most beautiful, reasonably available of the Morgan series, just behind the 1881-S and the 1880-S.
I might maintain the coin with the original documentation, for historic purposes.
This was a popular date for promoters back in the day because of the generally exceptional luster and strike.
Please post some pictures when you get it!
Edited to add that I only buy PCGS and NGC off of ebay, since I believe they are considered the most consistent Third Party Graders.
In reality, you are buying raw coin from this seller, which is usually not a good idea. I would pass on his other sales.
<< <i>Numismatic Certification Institute??
Owned by Heritage. Accused of overgrading, so Heritage shut it down and bought 25% of NGC.
these days. As long as the coin is at least choice, it looks like a neat deal!
Well I think I ripped one
You are quite a pessimistic bunch.
Many of us will call it as we see it.
Whoever is careless with the truth in small matters cannot be trusted with important matters.
Note that the seller is not claiming that the coin is any better than "uncirculated."
There is no Santa Claus in numismatics.

If I were a total dork I would ask, "Are you cutting the cheezhed?"
I'll get a pic up tomorrow.

Didn't read all the way down...nice.

I like to classic presentation. I never buy a coin with bad pictures, but I've been looking for a good coin for a good price by that TPG.
