    Wrong AGAIN Scott.

There most certainly was. I quoted YOU, which was your post agreeing with someone else regarding ARIC.

Regarding his thinking it was a Mays card or some other nonsense.

That is why I quoted YOU directly. (I figure you being so much better then the average JOE would comprehend that)

Scott stop trying to be so elitist here.

You came down and tried to ridicule Storm. You tried to show that he did not comprehend. The problem IS you are having just as difficult a time .
    ////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

Then perhaps you should quote EXACTLY what you're referring to

    I did, I quoted YOU.

Edited to add: I quoted YOU , I figured you must know what the hell you were talking about, perhaps you talk so much BS you don't know if your coming or going.

Next time be polite, no need to ridicule people. For if you do you may get some thrown right back at you. Comprende?

    Steve:

Ridicule? Just as you are apparently sick of my oft times condescending remarks (directed at a specific few who post either thoughtlessly and/or incessantly) and "elitist" attitude (again, directed at a specific few), I tire of your comments of a similar vein. I think my posts through, attempt to be on the mark and leave little open to conjecture. I may not have 5 digits worth of posts, but I grow weary of the same specific few who, when I offer something that I consider helpful or of importance to the group as a whole, get chided and condemned for not toeing the party line.

I responded to a post that was correcting aric's tongue-in-cheek scenario with regard to the Mays. The post was an obvious overstatement as well as a sarcastic commentary on the first few posts in the thread that erroneously assumed that the bidder had won the auction as well as those that assumed aric's comment was serious and had anything to do with Matt's original post. While Matt's initial post was not specifically clear, I was confident that I was correct in my interpretation and was ultimately proven correct when Matt later clarified the post. Does that make me special? Hell no. I've never claimed to be. But I find it funny that you, and a few others, can toss the turds on the dinner table, but when someone pushes them back to your place setting, you get your napkins in a bundle. You are just as guilty of snide and ridiculing remarks, so take off the habit and stop grandstanding for canonization.

With regard to the specific tone of my comments, I've grown sick and tired of every time there's a thread about eBay, storm has to gripe and moan about how eBay is a haven for thieves and their making it increasingly difficult to do business via that media and in the next post states how he's doing such a bang up business. We get it!!!

I have nothing personal against you, storm, or anyone else here. I just don't feel intimidated by the volume of your posts or by the clique that you run with. Nor do I feel the necessity,as you appear to, to edit virtually every post within these discussions.

I've hesitated and refrained many times on offering my opinion with regard to cards posted with questions about authenticity, trimming, potential grades, etcetera as the first few times I did so, I was lambasted by you and a few others. I will continue to offer advice and opinions to those that request such via PM as I have been doing for awhile. I won't say who those folks are or ask them to step up, but rest assured, they've been appreciative and have offered encouragement to return to helping via the boards. Sadly, you, SteveK, and a couple of others have made it quite uncomfortable to resume doing such. Still wonder where some of the venom comes from?

I've said my piece and I now offer you, storm, SteveK, and any others who may have me on their hit list an olive branch. Let's let what has been said now and in the past be put behind us. If you feel the need to respond, I encourage it. I will not take this disagreement any further or find cause for rebuttal. If you accept my apology and my offer to be civil, great, then let's move on. If not, it's a big pool and I'm sure there's plenty of room for both of us to swim without bumping bellies or stepping on each other's towels...

For all those sellers who complain that it takes to long to divide up pictures or whatever - ya know, there ARE scanners out there that do this automatically...

Personally, I feel it's deceptive to put multiple cards/items in a scan when you're only selling one. I just generally find it annoying.

  • Doesn't bother me either way maybe because I do actually read the listings I bid on.

Please tell me how it is deceptive when the title and the description state what card is being sold.

The only way it could be viewed as deceptive is if the people doing the bidding did not know how to read.

It is absolutely STUNNING how many times this occurs. If you are selling several items, it takes four times as long to crop each. Title can say it description can say it, bidding ONLY on card in title says it, and you still get questions. Guy left me a feedback saying I was deceptive.
  • storm888storm888 Posts: 11,701 ✭✭✭
It's not deceptive, and it's not confusing to the VAST majority of folks.

MANY of the biggest sellers do it, and I can count on one-hand the
number of folks I have ever heard complain about it as "deceptive/confusing."

The ONLY time it is bad is if the pics are too small.

I wonder if folks complain to 4SC about it. I used to buy stuff from them,
and their listings were clear and had 2/4 big pics.

    Matt,

Have you shipped off that 58 Topps Mays to the under-bidder yet? I assume he's paid. I'd throw in the Aaron just in case.

Simple - the items pictured aren't available in that auction. That's deceptive. Not to me personally as I do actually read listings and I'm aware of the multiple photo thing. But to inexperienced users, perhaps.

Now you're confusing me Craig. I could have sworn I was selling a Mantle card but really can't be sure. The multiple card scans and the clearly stated title were too much for my Ebay buying mind to comprehend.

In order to bid on ebay you have to a) be smart enough to get a computer and set it up b) get a internet connection and c) set up a ebay password and user id to log-on. Anyone with enough intelligence to complete these tasks should be able to read a description and match it to a picture.

When i'm bidding i like to see 2 cards in the auction, as long as they are large enough. This gives me a chance to see other cards i might be interested in. Also find this useful when i'm looking for singles, ecspecially if someone is doing a set break and listing the cards in order, i can see the condition of 2 cards with one click. This gives me the option of passing on the next card.

As long as the pictures are large enough, Matts' certaintly were, this seems like good business sense to me.

We should stop making excuses for the dumbing-down idiots of this country who are either too stupid or too lazy to take the time to read and follow simple instructions

    Tabe:

When you stop in at the corner market for a gallon of milk are the store owners being deceptive by also offering bread, beverages, cigarettes, candy, porn magazines and a host of other sundries?

I'm sorry, but there is a level of convenience being able to use an image with 2 or 4 items and being able to use the same URL in 4 different auctions. If there is a small percentage of eBay users that find that too difficult to comprehend or bother to remember the auction title and figure out that the auction title and the auction text specifically describe the item available for auction, then they can pound salt. They're probably not even bright enough to send payment on time and can't wait more than 24 hours after payment is sent before filing that they haven't received the item.

If posting 2-4 large, clear images of graded $5.00-15.00 cards is too much of an inconvenience, then I would prefer that those folks go on to another auction.

You're confusing "making excuses" for "dealing with reality." Unless you think a crusade to rid the world of morons is a worthy undertaking, it only leaves the option of dealing, or adapting to, life with morons, lol.

The reality may be that we have to deal with people that are too lazy too read or follow instructions, but that doesn't mean we have to make excuses for them. You are right, it's a fruitless battle, we will never be able to rid the world of morons but maybe we can contain them. image

Maybe in the future Matt should send the card for verification to everyone that is interested in bidding. This should remove any confusion.
  • With the new system i would avoid this practice...
