Birthday present to myself--that's right, a bust half.

Do you ever buy yourself a birthday/Christmas/etc. gift? I did...another Ed Richter (edmerlr) castoff.

Buying Ed's castoffs is getting to be a habit. One I highly reccomend to others.
Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

I buy myself coin gifts all the time. Birthday gifts, Christmas gifts, and even the occasional "Happy Saturday" gift image

    Nice crack.

If I had a birthday for every coin I bought myself I'd be getting real old by now.image

    Can I see the holder?

The coin looks a bit "off" to me.

Congratulations on the purchase of a great looking coin.

I have a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks and buy myself coins as presents all the time.

At least this way, I always get what I want. image

Is that a scratch or die crack running across the obverse?

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Let's see if I can answer some questions.

<< <i>Can I see the holder? The coin looks a bit "off" to me. >>

No holder, Ray. I'm one of those weird folks who still buys raw coins. Yes, you're correct, though. It has been dipped and the proof-like surfaces that this die marriage and state are known for show every mark and hairline. Nor do they scan well. I have seen much worse coins in PCGS holders and I have seen better ones bag. This one is iffy. (Maybe 60-40 to get a BB if submitted)

Speety, It is 1 of 4 cracks on the obverse. This die didn't last much longer.

Well, John, I can say it is a much PRICIER year then 1827. image I don't know about nicer.

Are you kidding me? I bought my wife a very nice Morgan toner AND a digital camera for christmas the year I got hooked on the hobby. image I was surprised that it didn't go over so well with her. And, she still lays claim to that Morgan toner! image

What a cool coin, the 5 in he 50 on the reverse looks like it is ready to fall over. And certainly enough crack to get us all high!
