Yes Another E-Bay Rant....Buyer to Block

What am I missing....Buyer leaves me negative feedback stating

<< <i>sent outdated guide with different title-braindead hosers >>

Link to Auction

I send the book (coin book) same day he pays. The title of the auction and the book are identical. It's the 2008 version and according to this guy it's already outdated.

The guy never calls or communicates in any way, and has not responded to my communications.

Might be wise to block...

More proof that the seller should always leave feedback as soon as they are paid.

Edited to change to too much negative left for others for me. Thanks for the heads up.

    Ziggy,

Not sure that would have helped. I think this guy is missing a coin or two from a full roll.

Thanks for the heads up Sego. Looking at the other negatives this guy has left, he has a habit of pulling stuff like this on other sellers. Unfortunately, now there's no way to warn other sellers of these kind of buyers. It's impossible to find the warnings in the feedback, since everything is positive.

Looking at the feedback he has left recently, yeah.

It's unfortunate that the only way you can out a crappy buyer with feedback now is to give them a positive.

Seems to be a rash of losers lately on EBAY. This is the 3rd guy I've blocked in last couple of weeks and I normally am not quick to block. Reading this guys negative feedback left for others, however, convinces me I don't want to roll the dice with this clown. Blocked.

Notice also that the recent cluster of irrational negatives this guy left corresponded with the change of feedback rules. Yes, he gave some foam-at-the-mouth negs before that, but has gone into overdrive since May 21.

    Nice work, eBay.

Which is really stupid. The more they screw the sellers, the fewer sellers there will be, and with fewer sellers come fewer buyers. Idiots.

I think that's a mistake because 1)Nobody reads positive comments and 2)By leaving him a positive, you improve his feedback %. The better option is to report it to Ebay. And yes, they will do nothing for you, but hopefully they cross reference reports so the repeat offenders will get caught.

As Russ pointed out, this guy is also a seller. That's rare for psycho buyers. I'd definitely watch his auctions!

I've had to block more users in the last 2 weeks than in the last 2 years.

Don't forget to complain to Ebay. Once they see how bad things are getting, they might modify the policy.

    Added.

One of his sellers said he received a death threat from Blueduck. If true, I would have forwarded the message or email to ebay. Possibly to law enforcement.

Not surprised at the increase of negs for sellers since the new policy went into effect. It encourages them due to the ebay statement that "sellers can no longer neg buyers". What a crock.

People with mental disorders can live relatively normal lives. However, sometimes things out of their control can cause them to do or say things that they wouldn't normally say or do. If a person with diabetes loses their foot, you don't blame them do you? If a person with a seizure disorder has a seizure, you don't blame them do you? It is obvious from reading this person's feedback left for others that something is awry in their life right now. Perhaps they can't afford their meds or just plain forgot to take them.

Should you avoid this person by blocking them? You betcha! But calling them names because of a disorder they have is just plain rude and heartless. Think about the people close to this person and what they have to deal with. All the OP had to deal with was a negative feedback. Not that I take negative feedback lightly, mind you. Just don't go calling this person names when you don't know the whole situation.

What is the whole situation? Do you know? If not, your speculating just the same as some of our creative name callers.

What kind of a mental disorder is it that causes one to leave an exponential increase of negative EBAY feedbacks. I don't think I've seen that set of symptoms in my old copy of DSM-IV.

There are people with mental disorders, then there are just mean spirited people - if I knew his was a medical disorder, I wouldn't call him a whack job. But I tend to believe he's just a mean-spirited individual with an ax to grind, hence a whack job. How he got away with using profanity in that one feedback is questionable on eBay's part.

Used to be never any seller with under a 99%...looks like that may have to re-adjusted to any seller with under a 95%.....definitely makes me cringe, as it seems selling an item is almost an invite for a neg. Disputes, claims are going to rise, sellers are going to get screwed over more and more, to the point that ebay may not need to have someone pop up and have a solid alternative to them. They may drive people to other venues which could definitely tear ebay apart. Not all sectors of ebay, but specialized sectors, such as coins, and any collectible, for that matter. I think, more sooner than later, ebay is going to realize that by handicapping a seller, was not such a good move. Sellers are now leaving their heads on the chopping block. ANY venue is better than one that basically tells a buyer he/she's in charge. I have always been one to leave feedback immediately following receipt of payment, as the buyer has upheld his/her end of the transaction by paying for an item....the seller, so long as he/she ships the item in a timely manner, and ships what is actually represented shouldnt have to worry, and this is what ebay is doing. It aint worth worrying about having disputes filed, getting negatives at random for no reason at all, losing money when paypal sides with the buyer (which they seem to do a large portion of the time)....this will come back to bite ebay in the arse, I firmly believe.

BUT, what it also does, is along with alienating sellers (I'll use coins specifically), it takes coins away from the general public, those that are just beginning, those that may be too lazy to look elsewhere for coins (except TV shopping channels)...could have a negative impact on the hobby.

The fun is just starting with the 'new' ebay, and it aint gonna get any better. Sellers, watch your backs.

I'll grant you that. But the change in his feedback comments seem to belie an underlying condition as of late. That was just my point. If he had always been a butthole, I would not think he was having medical problems. Look at his feedback he has left over time. It either shows that he is off his meds, OR he always wanted to be an a$$40le but waited until sellers could no longer retaliate.

I guess unless I contact him, we'll never know.

I know there are crooks and scammers on both sides of transactions. But, EBAY was fun before they started with all these stupid rules over the last couple of years. I am holding off selling there for a while. With buyers running the show, I am afraid it is going to be too hostile an enviroment.

lol.. some of his feedback reminds me of when I browse the yahoo finance boards. All kinds of people there who are supposedly traders with tens of thousands in stock yet they post comments like they are in high school, talking about people's moms and stuff like that.

Here's just one of the many examples that are on every board any given day...

If these boards are any indication, I expect ebay to reverse this policy in short order. Give people relative anonymity, give them an audience, give them a sort of immunity to do what they want, and watch them go psycho. image
